If this is true, I'm encouraged. Exactly what we need. A young, big, mobile, imposing central defender who hopefully can play a bit and has potential to improve.

Would be a pearler, but can’t see how we have got any sort of money unless a Downes / piroe deal is close.

Not accusing you of lying MM, if you’ve heard something then fair dos but would come as a shock.

That is the concern… not heard of any movement there. I think Leeds are the only team that have showed interest… so that may all happen late if Man City get Phillips.

You reckon it's imminent mate?

Every time I've watched him, he hasn't impressed, and that's at the level below.. admittedly only 4 times I have watched him, I hope it isn't another expensive mistake like Fisher.. if we were splashing out, Joe Rodon and Ampadu on loan would be the way to go, local lads who will give 100% and add quality in this division

No idea if Darling is any good, but he'd become our asset and at 22 years old, plus English premium, he could potentially become worth a lot of money.

Rodon and Ampadu would presumably cost a lot in loan fees and wages to get for the season, we're unlikely to go up and they would go back to their parent clubs at the end of the season, hence a waste of what little money we have.

Darling will cost about 5 million, I'd rather loan in proven players with ability at this level, because even if it's one season, we might go up, presumably we keep Piroe, Obafemi and Downes though.. that's 5 players we know who will terrorise this division.. add in Grimes, Naughton and potentially Joe Allen, that's 8 players of our starting XI who have attributes to challenge most teams in the division.. but I'm resigned to the fact we're selling somebody anyway

If he’s costing £5m he isn’t coming to us.

If what MM says is true, we won't be signing him unless we're selling.. that's what we're all waiting on
