Must have ice in his veins. Utterly cool and composed when in on goal. Doesn't always beat the keeper, but almost always hits the target.

We've had some bloody good strikers in the last 10-15 years, and Piroe has a chance to cement his name amongst them.

On Joel Piroe Russell Martin was very honest “ When I first came here I saw someone who was worried, he had just signed and the manager had gone, he was exceptionally worried to be honest, but I saw nothing in him that told me he wanted to play. From there we had a talk and he knuckled down, that first week though he was lost. He is now willing to learn, buys in to what we are doing, and is reaping the rewards, everyone can see that now, and so can he”

Joel needs to relax a little bit more in front of goal, and he has worked well on that, he is now feeling no anxiety in front of goal at all. So it’s working. He is another one with no ego, he has dropped all of that, whatever he thought he was two months ago has gone.

Very honest and interesting quote. I thought he looked sharp when he came on for his cameo in the pre-season friendly against S'ton. I didn't realise he'd gone through a wobble. You wouldn't know it the way he's taken to us.

We'll do well to keep him in January if he keeps going like this.

He went on the piss to Cardiff to celebrate his birthday in the middle of pre season training and got fined for it, obviously Martin didn't see the funny side of it.

It seems he came in with the big bollocks attitude and didn’t really buy into what Martin was initially setting out, explains why he was left out at Blackburn and had his number changed, either way I’m glad he’s knuckled down because he looks a brilliant player.

Most of that was in his presser. The bit about relaxing in front of goal was an obvious joke. As to the rest, should have kept it in house in my view. I think he was trying to praise Piroe but it all sounded a bit demeaning to me the way it came out. Other than that was doing his best to give the credit to the players for Wednesday.
