• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

There's always something going on throughout the summer , 10k run, half marathon, Airshow, Ironman. More events here than in New York.

Yup. All good stuff for the city.

I hope you weren’t inconvenienced at all over the whole weekend. I mean that most sincerely. 👍

Obviously it inconvenienced a few but it is surely better to have these sporting spectacles happening on our doorstep. Yes, we were unable to leave our lovely village cul-de-sac because the cycle route traversed through but for a few short hours on one single day. It was great to see those cyclists (as much as I personally despise them most days) flying through on their arduous pilgrimage and I gave them my full support. I would like to have seen more of the event but I had to work to pay for my heating and food bills and was on my to East Wales to meet my owner's requests.
Anyway, well done to the Ironman organisers and Swansea City Council for getting the event on the Swansea Map.

There's never a good time to host an event like that.
I will say though that the diversion signs worked well for me and I wasn't late to ground yesterday.

It's havoc down Pembs when the Tenby Ironman is on.

Yesterday wasn’t so bad as Mumbles Road was open as far up as Sketty Lane and we could go through Sketty and up over the top and down Gors Avenue.

I went through De la Beche street and then down through Uplands, Walter Road right into high street then up past Palace Theatre (which is so nice to see being redeveloped with the Albert Hall)

So good they named it twice; Swansea oh Swansea.

Never trust a Getty image description - have a feeling it will be Mumbles between the Big Apple and Castellmare?

I think you're right but the picture perspective is confusing - it doesn't look it but between the fence and the rocks (Bracelet Bay) in the background is the shaggers car park

That was my thought as well - theres a picture from the same photographer earlier in the post as well which I think was taken seconds before (or at least thats what I assume)

Actually I think the picture is a little further along and those rocks in the background are Limeslade

Oh and lol to the suggestion to send the athletes to Townhill and Morriston next time. Fine to inconvenience those east side types see as long as the well heeled folks of Mumbles and Gower aren’t put out in any way. Heaven forfend.

Plenty of hills and bends for them to run and cycle around up there. By the way, Townhill isn’t the east side type . Wrong side of the river. We always had problems with the Townhill boys over in the Eastside.
