The 'Vitor Matos' Managerial Thread

There’s been little media attention regarding Rodger’s which makes think he just isn’t interested

Hi next move will probably be the Middle East on £5m a year
His last 4 jobs suggest his wages are way out of any championship clubs budget
Possibly so, yeah. Massive payday for him, but if you don't ask and all that.

Agreed but I wondered if he'd consider taking the reins until the end of the season to stop the rot and get us up the table. This would inevitably raise our profile considerably and give us plenty of time to assess our next proper manager options while he keeps his hand in and proves he's still got it. Win-win. Cloud-cuckoo-land. 😁

That would be a massive reputational risk for Rodgers with no real upside unless he got us promoted (and that aint happening).

I feel like there is a slight difference between people like Davies and Eustace and appointing Matos. Both of the former had been assistant managers at similar levels to where we were/are. Matos only has a few months experience as a no.2 at Salzburg which didn’t go well (which wouldn’t have been his fault). Plus he’s only been a manager for a few months.

I have to say I don’t quite understand the thinking behind this appointment now that it looks like it’s happening. I was trying to be positive yesterday but there’s not escaping that this is such a huge risk.

All we can do is be hopeful about his appointment but can see why some are concerned. It is all a lottery at the end of the day though, Matos could turn out to be the new Klopp.

On the topic of Chris Davies, anyone else feel like we dodged a bullet there?

Earlier in the season, yes. I think Birmingham have picked up recently though. The one I lament the most is Eustace, proven himself as a good manager at this level, although yet to challenge near the top, that’s mostly because he was bizarrely sacked by Birmingham and seems like he’s in a different job every season.
