• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

...we had a leader on the pitch.

Grimes seems to do nothing to actually encourage his team mates. I watched them all trudge back to the halfway line when the opening goal went in and his head was down shaking his head. Captains needs to lead their team and he isnt doing it (and never has IMO)

CLearly Russ isn't going to change that but it would be interesting to see if any new manager did

Has he ever been a leader on the pitch, must be a fucking stud in the dressing room because the managers love him.

Andre Ayew captained the team in both Cooper seasons, no matter who was wearing the armband. Nobody has stepped up since.

Every manager he's been under has seen him as captain. They must see a different Matt Grimes to what we see.

No leadership
No vocals
No passion
No hunger

Wrong choice of captain.

On another thread people are saying Allen should be captain because Grimes is a useless leader. I don't disagree about Grimes, but there's nothing stopping other players like Allen leading bg giving the team a bollocking, talking them through games and geeing them up. Proper leaders lead through example and don't need a piece of fabric around their arm to do so, and the fact we don't have anyone capable of doing this is another area the squad is lacking in.

We’ll have to wait for Russ to go on his next bullshit course and then “situational leadership” will be all the rage. It still won’t happen, natch.

Don't disagree.

There are two blindingly obvious candidates to have the armband before Grimes (Naughton and Allen) but there's not much about Grimes' consistent presence both in the team and as a designated leader that doesn't baffle me.

I like to criticise managers, but deep down, I know they've forgotten more about the game than I'll never know. Having said that, the unceasing presence of Grimes is one of the few things I think they get wrong...but it's three managers now.
