Always a much better player than his detractors will admit. As FoaJP alludes, he was often blamed entirely for what happened whenever he was paired with Captain Marvel.

300+ games for the club in the top two divisions of English football is worthy of a hell of a lot more respect than he gets. Been a solid presence for us since joining and I would not be remotely surprised to see his stay extended.

He's that good no other club has ever been interested in him , and he's done nothing of note in the last 3 or 4 seasons to justify his selection or his handsome salary. There's much much better out there than Fulton.

Not a fan of his, then?

Nobody else wanted him , so somehow he ended up staying here . F**king mugs this club are sometimes.
“So somehow he ended up staying here”

Not only did he not leave, as was incorrectly reported in December 2021, we offered him a contract extension in March 2023, that’s how.

I think the frustration for so many is that when you look at last season his performance away at Leeds where he was exceptional you can see just what kind of player he can be. But he puts in that kind of performance once every thirty to forty games and unfortunately the opposite end of the spectrum is seen far more often.

If he was simply garbage then the club and the fans wouldn't be split like this over him.

It can’t be any coincidence that most managers rate him, he is obviously a senior player now but has the ability to play any way you want and get the odd goal or assist. He also picks up yellow cards but usually as a result of a cynical professional foul when we are in a vulnerable position.

I don’t think he is the sharpest player we have put he is often geeing up players when he comes on and handing out managers instructions so obviously trusted by those in coaching roles. He is also no trouble and a stable influence in the dressing room.

He does the odd dull thing now and again and has played us into trouble or stalled a good attacking opportunity but most of the others have done that and not been subject to the same level of scrutiny. He is bang average in a pretty bang average team.

I hope this makes sense. His cynical fouls are far more cynical these days.

Stuff like this doesn't help. If he only played well once every thirty to forty games do you seriously think that he'd still be here?

He's a capable player. Usually a solid six or seven out of ten. Occasionally an eight or nine, sometimes a four or five.

As I said in another thread, last night's goal probably doesn't happen if Jay doesn't make a run that pulls a defender out of position. As much as our poor chance creation and crossing doesn't help us, people making intelligent runs into the box when there is a crossing chance is another weakness, so well done to Fulton for doing so on this occasion.

Also, I'll just leave this here apropos of nothing...

Grimes - 16 goals in 333 games
Fulton - 16 goals in 303 games

No way is he a useless clown, not saying he shouldn't move on .. but that's ott. Been a good servant to the club, compared to others who can't last one season thru attitude or whatever.
If i was in the club management, I’d prefer fans who respect the players. You can argue about his ability but as A blue collar worker on the field doing all the dirty work, he’s been a great servant with great attitude.

Massively disrespected by a small minority of clueless online armchairs

A natural-born AM with the versatility, intelligence and application to be the absolute selfless model pro at our Club for so long.

The fact he was recently first pick for both Leon and Joey says it all

Great thread, Smurphy
