Matos’s results and the side’s performances since taking over with the same squad justifies his taking over for sure.

If we get something out of Sunday we got a chance to rest most of the first string next weekend with the cup with our next game after that a full week later

To be fair to Fulton, he has stood up and had a positive impact on the team since Matos has come in. That's all we wanted, the fans. The jury is still out on my side, yes after what 12 years , but credit where its due.

Funny how a goal changes perception of a player, Cullen scores and he is raved about for a while ignoring his obvious flaws. Similar to Fulton today, his goal has bought adoration for a few months with the fan base.

I’ve always been of the opinion that Jay Fulton was/is a decent squad member, whom managers throughout our second stint in the Championship have rated for what must be his consummate professionalism, and commitment to the cause.

Yes he’s got his foibles and faults which deeply frustrates me at times, namely, when his first contribution on the field of play has on occasion been, to receive a yellow card for a reckless challenge on an opposing player, and sometimes in an area where the opposition team can score from a direct or indirect free kick.

However, I can see the value in him as someone who gives his all, nearly every time he enters the fray for the Swans.

There is also one characteristic of Fulton that is to be applauded, and that is his exemplary injury record.

I can’t think of a time when he couldn’t be called upon to join his teammates on the pitch, either from the 1st half kickoff or when being summoned from the bench as a substitute.

This is an invaluable attribute to have, and one which often gets overlooked. It’s almost like it’s taken for granted, when it shouldn’t be.

The goal that he scored for us yesterday certainly would have put a cat amongst the pigeons, in terms of putting his detractor’s noses out of joint, and keeping them quiet for a game or two.

In the meantime, I am hoping that the goal is a springboard for what may turn out to be something of a Renaissance for the player, and he finally gets the credit that he so richly deserves.
