32 now! But if the wages are realistic then definitely he’s still performing great when I’ve seen him, interestingly Martin said him and the coaches went and watched a few games the other week to scout some targets and I noticed Dean Thornton was at the Reading Stoke game.

I think that ship as long since sailed, but hopefully Smith will be put out to grass in Summer Fulton may go as well, even Downes is more than possible, so we could be down a midfielder or three, so who knows?

Joe has had a number of injury problems over the last couple of years, I would love to have back the Joe who is at his peak fitness wise but taking off the Swans tinted glasses for a moment I am just not totally convinced that is going to happen.

For someone with the injury problems he has had if he would take a pay as you play sort of deal with a very minimal wage (lets face it he isn't exactly poor) then it would be worth considering especially if we do part ways with Downes for the cash in the summer.

I was surprised to see he's played 216 games in six seasons for Stoke, that's 36 games per season on average. Suggests injuries are not actually much of a concern.

If he is serious about coming back to Wales and will accept both a sensible wage and that he'll have to battle for a place in the team, then come on home Joe.

I'd hate to see him in a Cardiff shirt, but can't see him doing that. Perhaps Wrexham will want him as a marquee signing if they get promoted this season.

That's a decent shout and would be a good move for Joe, but I think its been said that he wants to come back to South Wales, who knows anyway apart from Joe and his family, as the saying goes Time will tell.

Five players essentially competing to play at the base of the midfield for two places?
I don't see it happening. If we were selling off Grimes or Downes and ditching Smith then I could see it however. Especially if selling Downes puts us in a position where we could play hardball over Piroe
