Yes agree and he puts in a very decent shift for Wales whenever I've seen him play. No doubt he would be fully committed to getting the Swans back in the PL over the next couple of seasons and maybe he could entice Bale to sit on the bench for a season or two

Issue with Bale is that every team imaginable will try to tempt him with a 6 or 12 month contract if there is even half a hope that he can push them into the Premier League or avoid relegation to the championship and would be prepared to throw silly wages at him.

Now Bale is sitting on about £100m and doesn't need the cash, romantics would love to think that he would come and play for a Welsh club for peanuts just to have game time and get himself fully match sharp for the world cup should we make it past the last playoff game.

Would it possibly happen? Yes but no one except Bale himself knows what he wants when the summer rolls around. There is no doubt that between Swansea and Cardiff that the Swans playstyle is far more complimentary to him but he will no doubt have concerns about reception after the way Morrison threw him under the bus somewhat with the "text message" story which according to some sources was not received well by Bale that he was name dropped in that fashion.

At 32 I doubt there will be a big money contract waiting for a player who's played championship football for the last 4 years. He would certainly fit into our passing style. So it's a Yes from me.

Can see this happening. Joes a top guy and has such a lovely family down west having got to know them from our time together in centre of excellence years ago.

I agree that while the odds are not 0% it is definitely more likely no than yes.
I thought about it and how/where we would fit in Bale into our current formation and it would mean dropping Piroe or Paterson - either that or a change in formation.

Allen against Austria was superb… if he’s not asking silly money then it would certainly be a yes for me on a free transfer.

This squad needs a mix of youth and experience… in Joe you have top level experience and someone who undoubtedly loves the club.

He can play the RM way and his experience would be invaluable, plus he's a jack through and through, imo it's a no brainer.

Reports from Spain saying he has signed a pre contract with Tottenham, which is also feasible.
