Should not see out the month as president of the most powerful nation on Earth.

People remember Trump put all this in motion yes? He signed the “peace deal” with the Taliban and if he’d won the election would have withdrawn US troops even earlier than they have? The Biden administration has followed Trump’s initial timetable.

That’s not to defend Biden or any other US president since Bush Jnr who started this clusterfuck with, it bears repeating, the full support of the U.K. and most of the people of the U.K. The few of us who spoke out against it at the time were shouted down and branded terrorist sympathisers. This will remain true despite the claims of many people who lie when they claim to have been opposed all along.

The situation in Afghanistan is a tragedy. So many people have so much blood on their hands, from the perpetrators who made it happen to the enablers who supported it.

The Taliban went against the terms of agreement pretty much immediately. The way the pull out has been handled has been an absolute disgrace.

1000s will be executed, there’s already videos of the Taliban executing the chief of police. They and us carry on.

12 US Marines dead, apparently another suicide bomb has just gone off aswell so maybe more coming, blood on his hands. Big time.

I’m not disagreeing. He’s far from the only one is my point. There’s no point wringing our hands from the safety of our living rooms though. This was always going to be the end when western troops were withdrawn. Whenever and however that happened.

Those republicans in the video are total hypocrites, they supported the trump plan at the time

Yeah but Biden mun

He should have sent thousands of US troops back in there full tilt, to be killed and maimed for the next 20 years, then they could have pulled out waving roses in the air as they left.

Oh.

Oh.

Killed and maimed for years, when was the last combat casualty in Afghanistan before today?

It doesn’t take leaving thousands of troops there at “full tilt”, 2500 I’ve read is more than enough, as the US and allies do in countries like Korea, and they continue to do so.

No Allied troops had been killed in the last 18 months is what I’ve read but I may be wrong. The situation was under control militarily. US policy, Trump and Biden has caused this disaster. They need to own it.

Last year.

It's easy to sit behind a PC advocating sending troops to be killed, without having a dog in the fight yourself. Those brave and courageous troops, lambs to the slaughter and for what?

There is no answer to what we created out there.
