How many times was he caught offside last night? Seemed like what little we didn’t create was always pulled back because he was offside! Haven’t seen anyone as bad at staying onside since Bafe Gomis!

And just as in the case of Gomis, the problem lies further back on the pitch. When the ball comes through midfield as slowly as it does with us, or in the case of our glorious captain gets held up for no reason, then forwards making runs are going to get caught offside more often.

Exactly… some our fans are as thick as sh*t if they think it was Gomis fault being offside so much… Gomis game was built on playing on the shoulder of the last man - it’s been successful wherever he’s played… our team at the time was inept at playing an early ball through… it was slow and ponderous like it is now.

It was Whittaker and it was about 4/5 times.

If I was a striker in this side, I’d be so p7ssed off. The number of times both Piroe and Whittaker made runs, and our midfield were too slow in releasing the ball was so frustrating.
But then again, we topped the possession stats.

I’m thick as shit for pointing out that our forwards are constantly offside? 😂

The biggest problem for Piroe is he's playing in a team that has no obvious talent, a defence that can't defend and a midfield that is dysfunctional and lacks even basic quality.
We are sinking fast and the writing is on the wall...

Whittaker lived offside.

It was poor, and people can argue who’s at fault, it may be the forwards, it’s may be that our build up play is too slow (I thinks it’s both, but what do I know, I’m thick as shit) but it’s just not good enough, whatever the reason. We barely look like scoring at the best of times, but it seemed every time we went forward, one of them was offside.

Quick players like Gomis and Whittaker will always struggle with offside when we play slow ball.

They are coached from a young age to play off the shoulder and use their pace to get in behind with teams playing quick through balls or balls over the top. When no one takes responsibility for doing that and a team just plays walking pace football they will get caught offside more often than not, and if they slow down to not get caught offside they lose their biggest advantage which is their pace.

All our midfield and defensive players are scared to play a long ball or pass forward quickly.

The other teams defense have so much time to settle and mark our players.

All forwards are taught to make darting runs, it's how they make space for themselves and gain that extra yard, but we don't have anyone willing to thread the ball through. Whether this is through lack of talent or instructions from the manager only they know. But I would hate to be a forward in this set up.

I don’t see this pace in Whittaker at all.

Gomis. How I long to see his amazing goal celebration once more. Has to be one of the most cringeworthy things I've seen at the stadium since it has opened.

I'll see your Gomis and raise you a fist pump.
