• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

He loved gardening as well. Sad to hear he's died.
Played Boycie very, very well.
RIP

My old man had him in the taxi once. Nice guy apparently

RIP John Challis aka Boycie.

It's quite spooky but I was driving back from Bridgwater around lunchtime yesterday and for some unknown reason, the name John Challis popped into my head so I started trying to think of OFAH supporting cast and came up with Roger Lloyd Pack (Trigger), Leonard Pearce (Granddad), Buster Merryfield (Albert) and Tessa Peake-Jones (?) (Del's partner) and then struggled. When my wife told me about 30 minutes ago, that John Challis had died, it was a very strange feeling.

Got him to do one of those video birthday greetings last year for my lad. Sent me a lovely follow up e mail.
It's a treasured memory for my lad, was genuinely upset today.
RIP Mr Challis. You are and always will be a legend.

He was in panto in the Grand.
I was in Francis John hairdressers in Swansea having my luscious locks washed and blow dried and the door opened and he walked in and asked if there was any chance of a haircut,Ricky was with me.

John Challis: “any chance of a haircut?”
Hairdresser sitting down filing her nails doing nothing: “no sorry luv we’re busy.”
He walks out.
Me: “You know who that is do you?”
Hairdresser sitting down filing her nails doing nothing: “no.”
Me: It’s Boycie from Only Fools And Horses.”
Hairdresser sitting down filing her nails doing nothing to Ricky: “can you run after him and tell him I can squeeze him in if he comes straight back?”

And he came back and had his haircut.

Very sad news RIP JC.
What can one say, played the character of Boycie in OFAH, with such aplomb. Legend.

Lived in a historic building in Wigmore, Herefordshire in his later years, which he was passionate about renovating. An active member of the local community and did a great deal for charities there. All round smashing guy.
