Josh Key

I've always liked Key, but his defending and overplaying in midfield are an increasing concern. It is no surprise that pacy wingers in opposing teams have really exposed him all game long-more than Tymon. Admittedly some of these wingers are very good players, some good enough for The Prem. Key is as defensively unsound as Connor Roberts. I'd prefer him as a winger and look to bring a better defender in with pace. Both Christie and Kyle not quick enough for a full back now

Looks to me that the recent comparisons to Gareth Bale (reportedly from LW) have gone to his head. He is allowed far too much positional freedom for my liking, whilst it’s good to see a team more fluid, surprising the opposition with players ‘popping up’ in unexpected positions, there needs to be cover for the player who has left his prescribed position on the field. This has left us (very often) shapeless when Key has drifted into an inside left position on numerous occasions in the last couple of weeks. I’m all for total football, but others need to understand if this is what we are looking to play.

yep

Key is classic old-school Right Half.
Solid, good engine, gets up n down, gets stuck in, rolls up his short sleeves, sports a mullet, works his socks off.

Inverted FB he ain’t.

Williams is shockingly bad at leveraging our assets, a familiarly worrying theme. Which only ends in tears, as we know.

Williams was sacked before, no doubt for good reason 🧐😉

Happened again twice today, held onto the ball too long, got dispossessed on the halfway line. A more clinical side than Albion would’ve taken advantage of his dithering

He's dropped off a cliff recently. Don't know if he needs a period out of the team or a slap in the face.

Hes okay if he’s knocking the ball down the touchline and running after it, but these latest tactics which sees him coming in field don’t suit him at all, loses the ball easily which leaves a massive gap where he’s supposed to be. Add to that he’s not the greatest defender either.,.

He's no Trent Alexander Arnold.

If he was just asked to play as a natural fullback I'm pretty sure we'd see a better player.

He was fine in the first half, linking up with MPH on the right. He did struggle in the second half when he was told to play as a CB though, really weird decision by Williams considering Naughton has loads of experience at playing CB
Apart from the silly decision to play Key at CB instead of Naughton, it’s inexcusable that there wasn’t an U23 CB on the bench.

What was the point in signing Christie, if you are playing Key as a makeshift centre half and bringing on Naughton at full back , you really have to ask yourself " How bad does the manager think i am" .
