We have sent a few to Port Vale in recent seasons, seem to be developing a relationship with them to help develop our prospects.
I hope he learns a lot there and comes back next season even more prepared to force his way into MDs plans.

Who have we sent to Port Vale previously?

Kyle Joseph for one

He had loans at Cheltenham and Oxford.

Sounds like a good destination for Josh. They seem to be short of strikers (the one they have may still be sold) and on their budget don't have many options for bringing in proven senior talent.

Would have been nice if he had gone to Newport thought they were interested.

Main thing for us though is he comes back with some senior football under his belt.

League above though, decent size club averaging just shy of 8k per home game. It's a great move for him. Needs to get his head down now, get a few goals and hopefully make a big impact here next year, certainly got the talent.

He's the first player we've ever loaned to Port Vale and it's only our second ever transfer between the two clubs after we loaned Kevin Kennerley from them in 1978.

Kevin Kennerley, now there's a name I remember. Not sure how many appearances he made for us but I actually saw one of them, away at Aldershot. Would have been in the late 70s I think. One of the reasons I remember the name is because the guy I went there with, a Fulham fan, kept saying how little effort he was putting in and it was annoying him!

That was one of two games for us, in 77/78 the year we went up from the Fourth Division.

He didn't play in the Football League after his spell with us, so he may well have had a valid point.
