I wouldn't be loaning him out to be honest as we need his strength in numbers and he will play a part this season but we do need more options - Cooper is one we should give a go to tomorrow and with Laird coming in then Bryan would be a good final option to give us enough depth

It was one game, and players need to adjust etc, but my worry is that we need a certain type of defender to play the way we are trying, and Cabango and Lati are going to struggle in a big way, I'd include Bennett aswell but in terms of passing stats he was the pick of the bunch out of the back three. Vast majority of the 21 shots Blackburn Saturday were on the back of us losing possession while playing out. Would love to have seen Guehi in a RM side.

Cooper can play a bit apparently so I think he needs to be given a go, not sure about Kean Bryan but he can apparently play in midfield aswell so you'd hope he'd be confident with ball at this feet if we did get him.

First 2/3 months are going to be a slog I think, but I believe we will see the benefits long term.

You don't get to the level they have unless you can play a bit. What we're seeing is the natural uncertainty that goes with completely revising the way we play back there. It will take time, but they'll adjust.

The biggest issue we had with playing out from the back on Saturday was the lack of options they had to pass to. Too often it was only Grimes dropping deep for the ball, but again that will come with time.

Lot of people rushing to write off JL. I wouldn't be so quick to do it.

We do ideally need to give them two option passes when we're under pressure at the back. Lots of teams will high press a defensive line does that does it, and we need to be able to quickly transition through that press and turn it into a counter. Downes looks like he could be a good step in the right direction, and having Fulton back won't hurt either.

JL getting the same treatment as Guehi did early on. He's barely played senior football. Let's at least give him a month or two.

We can't judge this team until we have proper wing backs in. Naughton is not suited there and while Bidwell is a solid left back he doesn't have the technical skills to play as a wing back in an attacking possession game. Honestly wouldn't surprise me if he's a shock exit by the end of August.

I really hope we sign another CM as well as Downes to be honest. The more technical midfield options the better. Things improved hugely when Patterson switched sides as he seemed more comfortable on the right of the 3 and while I'm not a fan of Dhanda he was at least looking for the ball.

I'm of the same view. Guehi was attracting the same criticism after his first handful of games and look how that turned out.

I’m definitely not writing Lati off, he just looks shot of confidence at the moment and could do with being out of firing line, especially while we are in this type of transitional period. I am slightly concerned about his conditioning though I’m assuming he’s been told to bulk up ?

Latis been here over a year and was run ragged by FGR, Plymouth and now Blackburn in the last few weeks
He needs to go out on loan
I'm not saying there's not a good player there somewhere but he's never shown it here
