• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Boris Johnson and Liz Truss have been Prime Ministers in the last 5 years, and it's Starmer who is "the most unpopular PM in British history"?? I guess it shows how influential the Daily Mail and Daily Express are.
Glyn, three quarters of the country don't rate him.

I don't think Hague was ever Prime Minister.
He wasn’t. But Glyn’s point is sound IMO. As a nation we seem to have adopted the mentality that changing prime ministers every year or so will somehow make things better. It doesn’t and never will. Is Starmer was to be toppled and replaced we’d be on our seventh prime minister in less than 10 years. Complete madness.

Yes indeed, and it shows that politicians are far more concerned about their careers than the country they supposedly serve.
Starmer is extremely unpopular and most Labour MPs are already worrying that they're going to lose their seat at the next GE. Once they collectively decide that getting rid of Starmer will improve their chances he's toast.

I’ve been backing Starmer for a while but I think he has run out of road.

I think he’s a thoroughly decent guy who’s trying his best but he doesn’t cut the mustard as PM. He just doesn’t have the skill set especially for the modern media age.

We haven’t had a functioning Gov since before Brexit and yes we can’t keep chopping and changing but I think if nothing happens we could be heading for an even bigger disaster in reform.

Things need to be gripped. They must go for someone who is a good communicator and is willing to be bold. Upset a few people. Annoy your base.

I fear a drift to Labour comfort zone and a far right gov in a few years.

It’s harder to be a PM now than it’s ever been (excluding war times) due to society, the power of social media, the constant lying and fake news which is peddled as truth, and the incessant micro scrutiny that occurs.

I can’t see how any PM lasts a decent amount of time going forward.

I think the way around it is to have a PM who has a bold agenda to change the system ie a bold agenda on political reform and voting reform.

This would mean yes upsetting the tabloid media and it would mean facing down voters who will buy the lies.

- State funding of political parties
- Increase in base salaries on MPs with massive curbs on outside earnings
- Alternative voting
- levison enacted
- radical ideas like moving Parliament to Birmingham

These are fag packet ideas but I genuinely think with a bold reforming agenda that democracy can be revitalised and it can remove a lot of the cynicism

My ideas will be very unpopular in short term because people can’t look beyond the reality. A base salary for an MP is not the problem. We need to attract quality and we need to disincentive corruption.

Whether you like it or not, Boris was well liked by many…until the tail end of his tenure. Truss, well, I don’t really count her a PM.

It seems like Starmer is disliked by pretty much all sides, left and right…I very rarely speak to anyone who likes him, in fact, I don’t think I’ve heard anyone (in real life) say that they think he’s doing a good job.

All these stupid polls and ratings don’t help. They behave like there’s an election every week. I think Starmer a poor leader and prime minister, but I hope he comes out of this punching and does some radical things to try and make real improvements. Stop playing politics and do some stuff for good with your massive majority, no matter who you upset. F**k the techbros, f**k Trump, f**k the daily mail. Show us what you really are…or you’ll just be remembered as a nothing…a man that wasted (possibly the last) a great opportunity put this country back on the rails.

I don’t dislike him at all. He’s just not a good politician or PM. Johnson on the other hand was a shit PM, and a disgusting c**t to boot. I hate him with every fibre.

Johnson is a great example of media manipulation.

He was an atrocious PM who destroyed the Country with his choice to back leave.

He had net immigration at around 1m but funnily enough at that point the public had few issues with immigration because funnily enough the mail et al decided it wasn’t something to talk about.

It’s an atrocious state of affairs. But we are where we are and that requires some bold ACTION.

Starmer is managing our decline he’s not leading. He’s had ample opportunity to eg change course on taxation because of events dear boy and he’s an ample opportunity to pivot away from the “global Britain” bs after Trump.

I am a bit annoyed with him on the missed opportunities. But he is fundamentally a decent man and for that I feel sad for him that he is unfairly hated because of wall to wall propaganda.

Good post. You missed out doing away with the House of Lords and replacing with an elected second chamber, and a massive revision of the role and structure of the royal family and it's wealth.
Starmer has been a massive disappointment to me. I wasn't expecting him to be a radical socialist in office, but I was expecting some kind of social democrat. Instead, we got Tory lite. The last straw was his cowardice in blocking Andy Burnham from standing as an MP. Forget all the bullshit excuses about the cost of a new Manchester mayoral election, blah, blah, blah. Starmer knows Burnham would be the overwhelming choice in a leadership contest.
