Innit? After the way LA duped everyone he should be in obscurity.

I don't agree, Darren. I don"t think the programme makers are putting him up on a pedestal, are they? I don't condone what he did, he's a nasty piece of work, but it's a fascinating story if you're a professional cycling fan.
I've read his (auto?)biography and a couple of other books by cyclists involved with him. I think his childhood shaped him. He grew up in a single parent family, 'trailer trash' if you will, and I think that background gave him a burning desire to win at all costs, plus no moral compass. The result was a driven bully who saw nothing wrong with resorting to drugs to get an edge on the opposition. We're not talking about popping a couple of pills either, we're talking complete blood replacement transfusions. Ych y fi.

Not for me he should be banished to hell.

It's the 30 for 30 ESPN documentary, it's really good.

A little bit of information though, all athletes bend the rules and some blatantly cheat. Everyone in cycling at the time was doping, he was the poster boy. They're still at it too.

Athletes are still getting banned from tests over 10 years ago. The labs and teams are always ahead of the testers, you can't just label one man as a cheat. It was just everyone surrounding it that was fucked up.
