Today marks the last day that about four million of the most clinically vulnerable people in England and Wales are advised to shield at home.
I’ve had my first jab and should be getting my second in a couple of weeks, but as I’m immuno suppressed I’m still quite wary, as obviously my immune system would struggle if I contracted the virus.
I’ve kept away from mixing with other people whilst doing my walks as much as possible, luckily I live in an area where most people have been careful about getting too close to others.
How do others feel about venturing out after being mostly stuck at home since early last year?

I’m immunosuppressed as well Mute.

I haven’t been a hermit though. I had a few meals in pub gardens last summer. I go out every day and get as much as I can out of life whilst carefully doing my personal risk assessment every time. I should have my second jab in about 3 or 4 weeks and another 3 or 4 weeks later I’ll be back in pub gardens having a meal and a pint. I won’t be going inside a pub in the foreseeable future though, or a cinema, theatre or sports stadium. I would like a test to see whether the vaccine has woken my immune system up. Confirmation of that would be great news and would give me more confidence to enjoy even more that life has to offer. If everyone else had the vaccine that would give me more confidence as well.

My wife was supposed to be shielding but you'd never have known but tbf, where we live you could easily go out several days in a row and not meet anyone if you chose your time & route for that purpose. She often goes out for a walk between 5 & 7am but then she is nuts. However, it has meant that I've had to be extra careful when I've had to do all our shopping and stuff like that but now we're both vaccinated, it's a bit of a relief and last night I played my first football since before Xmas as the outdoor facilities at our local leisure centre were available. Certainly feeling the effects today mind and we had planned to go for a nice coastal walk as it's my birthday today (69 in case you're wondering!) but didn't as I doubted I'd complete the course! Still, it's nice to be able to play football and plan nice walks, etc and it does feel like a little freedom has been restored and like you say, a bit more confidence to get out and do stuff.

Happy birthday K. Here's hoping for a little more normality going forward.

Happy Birthday 🍻 enjoy your day. Looking forward, won’t it be great when we can get back to listening to live music again. I think it’s the one thing I’ve really missed, and obviously watching the Swans. 👍

Happy Birthday dear sir.
BTW you in England or Wales?
I was playing 6 a side ( enthusiastically rather than skillfully) until March last year.
I would love to get back playing again if possible

England, we play on the all weather pitches at Cheddar Sports Centre, a bit far if you're in Swansea!
