LATEST – Swans and Southampton reach Martin agreement – Russ signs a three year deal

Cheerio, Russ. Better get your Process cranked early on there as I doubt they'll have the patience you've been shown here. You're a lucky boy to get a job like that after not really achieving much here yet.

All in all, I'd rather he'd stayed and had another go at it as I think we were developing into a decent team, with a distinct (if occasionally self-destructive) style of play that the players were getting used to and Russ was being less stubborn with. A few decent signings in the summer and I'd have been optimistic about our chances. Now it's back to square one - unless we go to Luke Williams and it's back to square...2?

I'm already feeling some sick coming up at the thought of his 'I absolutely loved the club and the fans, once a jack always jack'' spiel he'll give ahead of our first meeting next season..

I backed him massively for ages, but in the end that huge run of games where he massively fucked up done it for me, seems a decent guy talks a good game, he wouldn’t have turned down Southampton even if his relationship was rosey with the board let’s face it closer to his Brighton and parachute payments he would have always left, we move on like we’ve always done, let’s look forward to the future and the upcoming season, there’s a lot of stuff happening and for me it all seems positive, starting with the appointment of Watson from Luton.

I fall into the same boat myself, I feel he was hugely fortunate not to be out of a job in March when we were staring relegation form full on in the face. This reminds me of when Leicester decided to poach Paulo Sousa from us (who while admittedly he did well to steady the ship after Roberto left was never going to be tearing up trees in the Championship in his second season) - here is hoping that the board can follow what Huw did back then and unlock the da Vinci code with their next appointment.

Yep, glad he's gone and if he'd just used bitta common sense mid season instead of him being him, we could have been heading to London this weekend. But he's been seen to come up short of where we should have finished. Guess we'll remember him as the guy in charge for the double double...but that's it.
We now have a proper opportunity..a new start to finally kick on. Get the right guy in, the right ones out...few decent signings and we'll pushing next season.
Sounds easy if you say it quickly.

Feels like a win to me. Like when Leicester paid for Sousa. Poor Swansea.

I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that shite a lot sooner than that.

Has he actually officially gone yet?

The club are waiting for Andy Coleman to get a few buds down him before he fires up Twitter to make it official in his own unique way.

Unless he concentrates this time round on promotion over self promotion it will be a short lived stay.

When you take a step back, it’s almost unbelievable that someone whose record is a couple of mid table finishes in league 1 followed by a couple of mid table finishes in the championship is appointed by a club that will be desperate to go up first time round,
I wish him well but have rarely been so indifferent to a manager leaving us.

Will be interesting to see who next. Fingers crossed it is someone who cares at least half as much about the club than themselves.

Absolutely. I remember away at Palace when Rangel had just scored what proved to be the winner. Curt was caretaker manager at the time, Clement had been appointed and couldn’t resist running down to the coaching area to be seen giving Curt advice. Better a Curt, Bren or Guido than a Clement, Russ or Bobbly any day !

It's a beautiful day.  we get decent coin for sacking off our worst manager in yonks.

he was toast pre Jan window, despite what some peripherals protest.

our owners 'experientially' learned that RM was a wrong 'un.  the irony is sweeter than sweet.

timing is everything.  well played, owners.

Bodde's well........

You’re the second person in an hour to hint at that. Is there anything behind it? That would be interesting. Been coaching for a few years now hasn’t he?

It's Andy Cole Lis, perennial wum and talker of sh*te

Was thinking more about Sousa. Its quite spooky that Sousa managing both clubs appeared to precede the greatest period in the history of either.

Are we not likely to get confirmation until after their last game on Sunday? If they've confirmed the current manager is off, what's the hold up?
