Leicester City are handed major points deduction
Leicester City have been hit with a six-point deduction for breaking spending rules, leaving them above the relegation zone in the Championship on goal difference alone.
Six points
Leicester thought they were clever by pointing out that the FA didn't have jurisdiction to penalize a Premier League club. At the time the Premier League agreed, but as soon as Leicester got relegated and the Premier League tried to fine them for not providing financial records and Leicester tried to repeat the trick the Premier League quickly changed their tune and amended the rules. Can't believe it took them so long to apply it
Read yesterday it maybe another year before this happens. Absolute piss takeManchester City next please.
Not the first time Leicester have played fast and loose with the financial rules if memory serves.
Total of 18 .How many points did the sting Sheffield Wednesday with?
Thought it was quite harsh compared to what Leicester have just received.Total of 18 .
12 point deduction for entering administration.
Plus 6 more for payment breaches .
Aren't they the reason that points deductions started to be handed out to teams that entered administration? I have a vague memory that they cynically used administration as way to clear their debts.
They'll probably still do enough to stay up, but with the deduction they're now only outside the bottom 3 on goal difference. With Leicester's currnemt ( yesterday ) league position it's hardly a punishment at all, never going up never going down.
My thoughts too. A fairly meaningless penalty under their circumstances. With Leicester's currnemt ( yesterday ) league position it's hardly a punishment at all, never going up never going down.
