• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Oh and Freddie Mercury is without doubt one of the biggest music losses in the history of the world.
I walked the dog down to his house a few weeks ago as it’s been a few years since I went there and it’s not far from me. Always makes me feel a bit sad that it was only a few years later that he’d have been able to get treatment and live a normal life. And angry again at how Aids was viewed in those days. Literally shouted at the radio this week when David Blunkett was on. Will never forget how sickening his comments about it were. However much he pretends these days they weren’t.

I caught a few bits of the programmes over the past couple of days, and it took me back to living in Swansea in 1985. I remember driving back to Newton from shopping in Swansea market on the Saturday and listening to it on the car radio, then switching on the telly when I got home to watch more.
What struck me watching it again was the sheer talent of many of the artists, just strolling out on the stage in front of tens of thousands of people, often just accompanying themselves with one instrument, and giving a virtually note perfect performance. Sting comes to mind, Howard Jones, Sade, Phil Collins. Can you imagine doing that and not having your knees turn to jelly? Quite brilliant.

Bit of a hazy recollection of Live Aid day, was in my late teens at the time, sure I watched Queen in the house, and as I walked into the pub, it switched to Philadelphia and Phil Collins was on, little did I know that this was probably one of the best music festivals of all time.

I don’t see any stupid fucking Palestinian flags and any smelly stupid wankers that can’t sing shouting about killing Jews can you?

Oh and no Palestinian or Israel (or anyone) should be allowed in stadiums when the football season starts.
You’re quite a one for telling people what to do, what not to do, what to think and what to say. Bit weird for someone who claims to be all “live and let live”.

I don’t believe for one minute that you think people should be waving Israeli and Palestinian flags inside our stadium this season.

I genuinely don’t care what flags people bring. But that wasn’t my point anyway as you know.

Oh fuck off you do care you had enough to say about the red hand of Ulster flag a couple of years ago.
Stop lying you miserable twat.
