Absolutely not, he was suspected to be wearing a bomb vest, no low shot to the legs, shot to the head, shoot to kill.
The police do not have a shoot to kill policy, their firearms policies are based on what is called “shoot to stop” and comply’s with the requirement for the minimal amount of reasonable force to be used.

The police are trained to shoot for the chest cavity because it’s a bigger target area and there’s less chance of missing.

Horrible result for an innocent man to die doing everything he could to protect himself and others, but the officer who took the shot will also have to live with that for the rest of his life.

As others have said, our firearms officers receive extensive training, this isn't the States where you get handed a gun after 5 minutes training and 1 viewing of Commando. If he had shot the guy in the leg and he did have a bomb, many more than the one person may have died.

Either way, job done.

From what I read, the innocent guy accidentally shot by police was holding the door closed against the attacker and took a bullet through the door. If this is correct, I'm amazed the police fired at the attacker with the risk of hitting worshippers on the other side of the door. At least aim low for his legs to minimise the chance of collateral damage. Don't they get training on this kind of thing?
As far as I know they’re trained to aim for the biggest area which is chest and torso, no risk of getting up after clipping them there.

Money shot for an absolute lunatic.

When my day comes, I'll take my chances for being atheist.

Hopefully those affected will find solace in whatever beliefs they follow.
Peace out. 🕊
