Am I missing something here? Judging by our current standing, shouldn't we be in pot 2 by rights?

Yes we still are for World cup qualifying. But by finishing top of our europa league group we were guaranteed to dodge all teams in nations league relegation/ promotion play offs plus the final 4 teams in the nations league semi finals proper (so in theory the best 4 teams). We'd have been in a 5 team group and start qualifying games in March.

Now it seems it's a free for all. Not sure how they're going to squeeze all the games in.

I read the entire Twitter thread explaining it and I still don’t understand so I’ve decided just to wait for the draw and see what happens.

Austria, Wales, Montenegro, Cyprus and San Marino would do nicely thanks, drive.

In reality hopefully this won't make much of a difference, it's all luck of the draw at end of the day.

What I'm dubious of though is what is UEFAs justification for this change. There must be some ulterior motive that'll end up benefiting the bigger teams.
