Perhaps they were just waving to someone and their gestures were misconstrued, like Father Ted.

Or perhaps they're a pair of twats

I was only 11 years old when my Dad took me to the game at Onion Park in the old enclosure under the grandstand, we were cheated by an East German referee called Rudi Glockner whose name will remain with me until my dying day by allowing the then Czechoslovakia (a fellow East European Iron Curtain country at the time) progress to the latter stages of the European Championships.

I distinctly remember the whole ground giving aggressive ‘ Sieg Heil ‘ salutes towards Glockner as he left the pitch under a barrage of missiles it was absolutely ferocious there what a baptism of fire for my first Wales game 🙈🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Hope Qatar won’t be like that in November 🤞🤞🤣🤣

You have a good memory I also went with my Dad to the envy of mates as I could be seen on the TV wearing a white jumper. Nasty game , a huge Yugo following and an iron curtain ref. Despite the favouritism by the ref, Yugo were a good team. I mainly remember the swearing and apologies to my dad for the swearing and also the booming Y-u-g-o-s-a-l-v-i-a chant. I guess it is on you tube will look it up. Not an atmosphere to forget.

Oakley, of Parkfields Road in Bridgend, was reported by other Wales fans over his salutes at Austrian fans visiting Cardiff City stadium. The 59-year-old appeared at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on September 23 and admitted a racially aggravated public order offence.

The magistrates imposed a £1,250 fine, £125 victim services surcharge and prosecution costs of £85. He also received a Football Banning Order (FBO) which means he cannot enter any premises in the UK to attend a regulated football match for three years.

Mervyn Hinton, of Lord Street in Penarth, was found guilty of the same offence following a trial on September 20 at the magistrates' court. The 57-year-old was witnessed by stadium stewards and caught on CCTV making Nazi salutes at Austria fans.

Hinton was fined £72 and ordered to pay prosecution costs of £625 and a victim services surcharge of £34. He also received a three-year FBO.

The guy who admitted it got a bigger fine than the guy who forced it to go to trial?
I thought that pleading guilty was usually meant to have a more lenient sentence?

One earns more than the other.
