New Manager

Sheehan has the safety net of Cravatt but it looks like he is trying to force their hand to give it to him now!
Not only to give him the job but trying to get a bigger tune out of them if he does manage it in regards of better players....can't blame in on that front.

All said above and it's just my opinion, I think even Cravatt is starting to see another side to Sheehan.
Ahh, the enigma that is Cravatt.

What is the hold up for now then? I'd say the Sheehan honeymoon period is over having lost the last 2 games and he knows it hence his more bullish comments recently. But would any incoming manager want to take over before Leeds away?

Could this be the hold up?

A lot of managers wouldn't want to take over at this point, it will change dramatically once we guarantee safety in this league.

Realistically come a week Saturday, we could be 3 points outside the relegation zone with games against Derby and Plymouth coming up.......it would be a massive risk to take for any new guy.
The initial contract would be until the end of the season, to be increased by 2 years if the club stay up. I would imagine any manager that comes in now, his agent would be looking at a payment if he keeps them in the league.

We have backed ourselves into the corner, we had more scope when we had that 12 point buffer but that has changed in the last 2 games......it just highlights how big these next 3 games are and for me not enough people are taking it as serious as it is.....and that in itself is a bad sign.

I read Sheehan would be taking training Tuesday & Wednesday.

How about today?

Or is it a day off due to international break?

It is all about what might happen as 8 games to go but Leeds and Sunderland can at the moment be taken out leaving 6 games.

Currently 2 against mid table and 4 against teams below us.

We can't possibly as a club ignore how important the Derby and Plymouth games are.

The ramp up should be now, in fact should have already started , to get as many in the ground as possible.

I'm sure Derby will sell out, Plymouth maybe not as on a Wednesday.

That's what I assumed the plan would be, but didn't Sheehan say there would be a new manager in during this international break?
Silly thing for him to say, though, because he can’t control the arrival of a new manager (what if they all say no?). Perhaps he meant he was given a short term (one month) contract as caretaker, which expires around now?

Yes, we're in a spot of bother now with not a lot of bargaining power. Any potential decent manager we're going to want to come in (2 losses on spin, 6 points off safety with Leeds away next, relegation rivals on form, squad without enough goals) is going to be able to name their price, which we probably won't pay.

The caretaker boss starting to rock the boat in the press isn't helping things either.

Difficult position to be in as a club currently.

I don't buy in to this narrative.

Just look at Eustace leaving a team in the play offs to take over a team deep in relegation trouble.

This club presents a huge opportunity for the right person. We have a decent training ground and youth set up.

It's not all doom and gloom like some want to portray.

Only thing I’d say with that one is he wanted to be back near his family and he played for Derby which in the end made his decision a lot easier.

Saying Sheehan is 'starting to rock the boat' is being a little dramatic.

He's said the same thing throughout his short tenure as caretaker, that, in his opinion, it's best for the club to have a new manager in place before the end of the season as we're down 3 members of 1st team staff when Luke and co left, with people from U-21s coming up to help out. That's not an ideal situation to be in through to May when you're fighting for survival. It's a perfectly rational thing to say, and he's been consistent with it all along, he's not 'starting' to do anything.

Now, should he deflect those questions and say to journos that they need to speak to Montague about that side of things, that he's just thinking about taking the next game etc? Probably, yes. But let's not get too tabloid about what he's been saying.

So it was the right opportunity for him.

If someone told the Derby fans that their new manager would swap pushing for the Premier League for fighting to stay in the Championship, no doubt they'd think that person was mad.

Starting to rock the boat is someone else's perception.

All I seem him doing is stating the obvious.

I’m fully expecting to see Sheehan doing the presser for the Leeds game next week 🤣

It's almost as bad as the penalty that wasn't a penalty thread 😳
