The vast majority of people here are all making valid points. Regarding relegation, we SHOULD be fine but we could also easily be dragged back into it depending on our next few game and the results of those below us. Just because we lose a few does not mean every team below us will pick up points. It's a maths game end of the day, so every point we get is not only a point over those below us, but also another less game for them to catch and grab points of their own. We are currently in control of where we finish and not hoping for others to slip up, that is a positive and should ease the doom and gloom mentality.
Regarding the manager, its frustrating. We all knew deep down that the current regime were hoping for Sheehan to pull a rabbit out his arse and grab a few results. He did that, that bought them time. They then used that time to re-structure the hierarchy of the club. The vast majority wanted Coleman gone, he's gone, but now some also expect a manager to be announced at the same time. We cannot expect the club to re-order the higher ups and hire a manager at the same time whilst being embroiled in a potential relegation scrap. Thats a recipe for disaster and would result in some chancer getting a job they do not deserve and potentially doing more harm than good.
From the outside it looks a mess, we need to weather it and get the right fit manager in. I am always more than happy to point flaws out in how the club is being run, but I think they have done the right thing this time and waiting may bear more fruits.
Nope. They absolutely haven’t done the right thing. Not even slightly.
If, a few weeks ago when they’d sacked Williams (who was a convenient fall guy for the utter chaos at the top), they had set out a strategy of appointing Sheehan until the end of the season, running a comprehensive search for the correct option to join us at season close and in the meantime restructuring the top of the club that would be fair enough.
But they didn’t do any of that.
What they did was make several announcements about wanting someone ‘at the forefront of thinking about the game’. They appointed Sheehan for a very short term, with him stating at every possible opportunity he wasn’t interested in taking over until season end.
They the announced Coleman was going, together, presumably with his caddy, and instead of putting in place an actual chairman, promoted instead a bloke who only joined a month ago in a less senior role. And who has no discernible background in running clubs at anything approaching our level.
They’ve now, seemingly, been utterly unable to appoint anyone as manager so we are back to Sheehan for the rest of the season, not as an active choice, but as a ‘bloody hell we need to do something’ option.
All the while keeping fans in the dark when trying to persuade them to buy season tickets.
It is an absolute shambles. As can be seen from the empty stands every game. And them now needing to virtually give away tickets to make the cr owe seem even slight respectable.
For so called fans to be defending them is ludicrous.
It’s interesting that you say you are always more than happy to point out flaws as on the face of it there is less love for Trump from the extreme maga nutters than there is from you towards our ownership.
