• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Had a dislike for grounds with a greyhound track or speedway track around perimeter of football pitch which meant you watched from miles away.
The old Stamford Bridge was horrendous, although I wish I’d been further away when Dixon and Speedie did us 5-1.

Not so much as nostalgic but an interesting experience. We played Oxford City in the cup, late 60’s. We won, but Oxford United fans were there and their fans turned on ours and I remember them chasing us with knives. I was 15/16 at the time and was the first time I had encountered that type of behaviour by fans, other than Cardiff obviously.
The ground was called the Whitehouse Ground, I think 🤔
Anyone else remember this?

Yes I’ve been there twice
First time I think we won 3-2
The second time 5-1?
I think that’s the game you’re on about.
Quite a bit of trouble inside behind one goal. I was up behind the other end

Yes, that’s the one. I didn’t tell my parents about the trouble there as they wouldn’t have been too happy. 🙄

Talking about all these old grounds brought back memories of the re-election process that we ourselves had to partake in, in the mid 70s . I can remember both Workington and Southport getting voted out , replaced by Wimbledon and Wigan. Indeed I still view those clubs a "newcomers" even though it happened 50 years ago:ROFLMAO:

I got there really early so was able to park very close to the ground on the main road.

Came out of the ground and quite a few Oxford milling around, at least I came from the end they weren't looking at.

In the car and away.
