I think we saw a glimpse of what potential this team under Matos can be. To be fair it's been growing for a while. Its not the final product but for me that was the best game we have pressed a team, which in turn meant we won the ball back quicker.

We’re a mid table team, which we’ve been for the last 4 seasons.

Despite some really poor runs (poor management at times) and some very good runs we’ve never finished in the top 8 or bottom 8 since Cooper left.

The positives are the age profile of the squad and the potential for a handful to kick on next season, as Vipotnik has this year.

Negatives (in terms of making the playoffs) are the fact we may lose 1 or 2 of our better players and the loan recruitment in particular hasn’t been a game changer.

Always going to be difficult to compete with the biggest budgets in the league, but Millwall & Hull have shown that if you’ve got a decent manager, and a way of playing that everyone buys into it then it’s still possible to overachieve in this league.

Not everyone will agree but I’m cautiously optimistic of getting closer to the playoffs next season.

Truthfully, we're not.

We have some bad games, or some bad periods of games. Our manager has come in partway through the season with a squad that had some obvious deficiencies and zero confidence. He's done a fantastic job. Fingers crossed a full preseason and some tinkering with the squad and we'll see further progress.

What we need, more than anything, is a season of stability. We need to get through 26/27 with no big changes in the structure, and no requirement to change the manager (or losing him to a bigger club). If we're going to build towards getting back into the Premier League it's not going to come off the back of constant turmoil.
