Remember the day well - I think he scored around 250 at Colwyn Bay the year before as well

After we moved from Swansea to Llandudno in 1962, I used to go to watch Glammy every year when they played at Colwyn Bay but never saw a knock like that. Great days out for me an a couple of my school chums. It was a strange compact little ground in those days with a steep grass bank at one side where we used to sit and I assume it can't have changed very much as there are houses very close on 2 sides. Played there a couple of times myself in the late 60s.

"On this day in 1841, Robert Peel was elected Prime Minister for the second time after leading the party in opposition. Famous for founding the Metropolitan Police, dubbed “Peelers” and later “Bobbies”, while Home Secretary modernisation would be the hallmark of Peel's premiership: the modern party as we know it was born out of his Tamworth Manifesto, the first of its kind. The Mines and Collieries Act 1842 banned women and children from working underground, the Factory Act 1844 limited working hours for women and children, and the Importation Act 1846 removed trade barriers on imported corn, driving down prices to feed the poor."
