He's had backing, he's had players he chose, he had / has a good / decent squad. If he lieaves it will be an admission of his personable failing in getting what he wants from players.

So Martin and the recruitment team identify a target within the budget. A deal is agreed on very good terms and at the last minute the big man in America says no.

Firstly, we were told by Martin that players had to leave before a signings could be made. Dhanda, Fulton (and possibly Pato) could have left and free up room for incomings. In the end Dhanda, Pato and Fulton stayed so no funds were freed up for incomings! Walsh then left on loan and Martin secured his incoming left wing back. Exactly what Martin said would happen did happen! Outs before Ins!
Other reports (if true!) show the owners are financially savvy by not accepting a low bid for Pato or Dhanda below what they considered to be fair bids.
Reports also state that Fulton rejected deals at Blackpool and Barnsley - if he'd have gone for a fee (or even a free) I've no doubt this frees up enough funds for the owners to keep their word on incomings.
I'm sure Martin may be frustrated but I suspect he's bright enough to understand the owners did what they promised! He may be pissed off about 'investment' but we've spent money on transfers/wages to support Martin with Pire, Fisher, Ogbeta, Downes, Obefemi, Jospeh. Plus no doubt investment in Grime's contraft extension. This is significant investment in comparison to other championship clubs.

They must have sanctioned what is no doubt an expensive loan move for Wolf while blocking a transfer of a young player who they could have ended up making a decent profit on. The same owners who thought Bobbly Bradley would be a good idea and promised to take us to the next level.

I agree. He's had funds to sign Piroe, Downes, Obafemi, Fisher, Ogbeta, Josepth.
The owners have backed him and invested.
Players have to leave before tansfers come in we were told (Martin stated the same). Only Walsh left (no fee) and we replaced him with a £300k Ogbeta who we desperately needed at left back.
Sound investment in layers who's values may rocket!??

This is where I am with it. We haven’t reduced the outgoings by enough to enable the potential arrivals to be set in stone. I think we all believed that Fulton’s departure was inevitable and that was probably factored into the financial forecast. Ultimately that forecast didn’t materialise as he didn’t leave, and we had to cut new cloth accordingly.
