Look at this clip - for a moment, at the start, you might think it's a mirror of one of our typical mess-ups these days.

But this move ends up with a clear purpose. Unlike us. Now I know it's Arsenal but there was a time we were a lot like that. God, I miss that pace in our team

I know we haven't got similar calibre of players, but the Martin gameplan virtually stops in our half...that is if we don't cock it up inside, or just outside, our penalty area.

And it is soooo boring to watch. Has been most of last season, and unfortunately carrying on in the same vein. I hope though that Joe in particular can make a difference when he's fit.

For me, I'd give Martin till a few weeks after the end of the transfer window. If there's no improvement, he'll have to go I reckon.

One of the things you notice when referencing clips like this is that no team will play this way with 5 at the back.

We have 3 centre halves and two central midfielders clogging up the middle of the pitch and making it so easy for teams to box us in and press. Having wingers stretch the defence allows players to find bigger holes in the press and it lets you play out of it easier.

Case and point would be our goal against City under Potter. It's not about the quality of the players but the structure of the team.

Couldnt have but it better myself, we are in desperate need of pace and a player who can beat a man. Saturday i was sitting with a few mates and i said before the match to watch how Pato or Ntcham take the space away from us going wide quickly. To be fair Manning did his best and was ignored countless times.
