I'm not clever enough to understand the details of footballers contracts. But, in any other job if you refused to work you would be disciplined and sacked. Why does it seem this sanction is not available to football clubs?

For the sake of clarity,y point is a general one and I make no judgement on what may or may not be happening with Pato

You wouldn’t be disciplined and sacked if you claimed your mental health was an issue for work reasons even if it wasn’t.

My Mrs is big in the union so we know plenty of people who this exact thing has happened to them and they do have mental illness, one friend is in the middle of a court case with Cardiff Council. You'd be surprised.

But leaving by "mutual consent" could come into play.
He's hardly on minimum wage now is he?

You do realise that was meant as a joke right ?
Not sure the Willy Wonka reference is called for ?

Yes, I did realise it was a joke actually, you do realise my reply was also a joke right?

But I don't know of any other job where your boss can extend your contract against your will and also refuse to give you a pay rise.

I mean he was more than willing to sign the contract when there were no other offers on the table. Has a good 4 months and thinks he is better than he is.
I am so surprised he hasnt gone.

Ah, so what was included in Pato's contract then? Do you think he wasn't aware of its terms before he signed? Do you think the club have driven a coach and horses through the contract terms then? Genuine questions.

Seemed a bit personal .
Feeling a bit fragile what with a disappointing trip to Hull followed by an even more disappointing last day of the window yesterday 😁😁

I know as little as everyone else here and am certainly not "in the know" about any of this. What we do know, is that the management decided to trigger the option to extend his contract. Nowhere have they stated that when they did that it was to be on improved terms, and there isn't any reason why they wouldn't have stated that; so I'm pretty comfortable with my assumption.

I'm definitely sure that Pato, his advisers, and the club have between them c*cked this up.
