The tenth and penultimate date of Wings’ first tour was the only stop in Wales.

The gig took place at Swansea University on 22 February 1972. Paul McCartney had telephoned the university at 5pm to ask if the band could perform that evening. Less than an hour and a half later, a queue of 800 students

Good experience, and it got us together as a band, going through all those hardships, like a young band does. It brought us together.

Did he actually play Swansea ?

Didn't he play the Cwmfelin Club in 73?
Rumour has it the gig went on after 9pm when the Bingo was due to start and it all kicked off big time 😟

Very interesting. There’s a FAO for you on page 2 too.

It often kicked off in the Cwmfelin Club, usually when the scallies from up on the hill ventured down, which 99.9% of the time ended with them running back up the hill, great days

We had the John Wayne boys from the Lan coming down to the Rumbuck to square off the Hill mob, but it was a bit of a conflict of interest for me cause my Dad grew up on the Hill for the best part.

The Good old days with proper jacks being jacks, no wanna be jacks in those days  Jaxs.

Only went there once, enough said 🫡💪💥

I can visualise you're tail tucked up between your legs heading for the hills ;)

Clase Club. For three weeks running me and the now wife won the last house, then the following week the bonus last house for calling in 45 numbers or fewer and then dropped the £100 bandit jackpot on the way out after last orders the week after that. Three Saturdays running back in the mid 90s. Couldn’t leave Carno Place without protection for a while.

PS. Staying in roping, Wings were often great but mostly shit.
