To raise revenue. Why is it fair to tax pensions when they've been accrued over a lifetime of saving (from after tax funds)?
Take one of the benefits that isn’t part of taxable income (some benefits are actually taxable, like Jobseeker’s Allowance but ignore that for now), like Universal credit.

It’s based on need. And comes from the government. So what you suggest is that the government gives someone universal credit, takes some of it back in taxes and then has to increase the amount of universal credit given as it no longer covers need. So the net amount someone receives is the same as they get now but now there’s a bigger starting amount and tax paid on that. No extra revenue, lots of admin and extra costs.

Sounds like a plan.

Our street has residents parking but outside our house isn't marked as one of the residents bays so 'randoms' are forever parking there - more often than not I can't park outside my own house 🤷‍♂️
I've always wondered about that, noticed it quite a few times over the Manselton/Brynhyfryd area, there will be all lines designating residents only parking, then a few houses will have absolutely nothing, then it carries on with the residents only bays. I really don't get that at all, it's not fair on the resident who has not got a residents only bay outside their house, I wonder why they would even do that? Seems crazy to me.

Swansea Council policy is 50% marked as residents parking.
This seems to be a common practice gor Councils across the country

I wonder if this will be enough to make a difference in medium to long term market shift. There isn’t a week go buy where I don’t see a cut in future EV demand or even cancellation of models. The prolonging of ICE supply chain contracts is very much a thing these days.

One thing I’ve learned from many years in policy making is that whatever you do, it’s never enough.

That money doesn’t go to the Treasury so isn’t doing anything to replace the lost fuel duty.

Congestion charges contribute to business rates which go to the treasury so indirectly car owners pay. Although the purpose is for congestion charges is to reinvest in cleaner air and infrastructure. .

Ok not sure what point you’re making but ok

Yes, but who? You’ve been asked loads of times and you just say it’s not your job to know,

The EV thing is absolutely fair. There is a gap in finances and they are filling it. What’s the problem? Or are you saying those who pay £50k for a car are the struggling? In which case, our definition of struggling differs.

Most people don't buy new EV's especially in that £50K bracket.. a good percentage are leased through companies or a private plan. These people are not necessarily well off to be adding extra burdens.
