Saw that FIFA is going to green light for players coming off if requiring treatment to be increased to 1 minute. They wanted 2 minutes but had a lot of pushback.

Also subs have 10 seconds to leave the pitch or their side will not be allowed to bring on the other player until the next break in play at least 60 seconds later.

On a kinda related note, I've long thought throw-ins are ripe for some rule changes to stop time-wasting. With the multi-ball system there's no reason it has to take an age to get the ball back in play. I think setting a time-limit for delivering the ball back in play from the time the player has the ball in hands and/or making the outfield player closest to where the ball goes out be the throw-in taker would help. Really tedious when the ball goes out and the 'throw-in guy' casually walks over from the other side of the pitch to take it.

That and stealing 10 yards for every throw in. It should be the easiest thing in football to enforce.

Two sides to this. Certainly cutting down on convenient "injuries" is a good thing.
On the other hand, if a player is hurt by a poor tackle and needs treatment, why should his team have to spend the next minute down to 10 while the fouling team stays at 11?
I realise that if a card is shown the injured player doesn't have to leave the pitch but with the poor standard of refereeing bad tackles often go unpunished.

Joel Ward delivered a master class on this last saturday. When we were winding down the clock he had a succession of 4 consecutive throw ins that must have taken 2 minutes out of the game. I was chuckling watching the Brizzle players lose their shit - but boot on the other foot!!

Indeed there has to be referee discretion, if a player goes down unchallenged or there is no contact then off ya go mate. But if a player takes one down the achilles his team shouldn't have to play a man down for a minute if the ref didn't book him.

Then again that caveat has been in the game since the 30 second rule was brought in, but so many times I see a player forced off the pitch even though the ref booked the opposing player for the foul. You would swear half the time the referees don't know the rules of the game

I don’t understand why you get a free pass of 30seconds plus to take a throw in just because you’re taking a ‘long throw’. The amount of time taken for corners and free kicks is also getting ridiculous.

I’m coming round more and more to 60 mins ball in play to stop all of this - pretty easy to implement at all levels and at professional level you’d have the time on the scoreboard/big screen so everyone in the ground can see it.

I watched bits and pieces of the Everton v Man United game last night. Everton's tactic on corners was to put 5 or 6 players right in the goalmouth around the goalkeeper and put the ball into the six-yard box. It meant the build-up to every corner was a ridiculous mass of players pushing and shoving and looked awful. I imagine more clubs will do similar following Arsenal's recent success with this tactic, but it's terrible to watch and something a change to the rules may have to address at some point.

We did the same second half against Bristol where we had so many in the 6 yard box , Eom nearly scored direct from the corner .
With a good delivery very difficult to defend .
You can mitigate that tactic by leaving 2 or 3 players on the half way line .
When Chelsea played Arsenal in the league cup semi final Arsenal were about to take the first corner 3 Chelsea players sprinted to the half way line .
