He was around largely before my time, caught the last few years of his career at Spurs. He was an excellent keeper.... Rest In Peace Mr Clemence.

I remember I saw Ray play for Spurs in 1987. I was on a day trip with Kingsbridge Colts to London. In the morning we went to Wembley to have a stadium tour and then we went to White Hart Lane. Clemence kept a clean sheet and Clive Allen Scored a Hat-Trick. Steve Bruce was playing for Norwich.

I had to check the interweb, and I was there at the Kop when he made his debut for the Reds.

I remember him playing, but wasn't sure if it was his first game.

Was one if my first memories of watching football was Clemence in goal . Proper keeper.
Sad loss. What a fckn year this has turned out.
RIP.

I was also there when he made his debut for Liverpool in 1968. It was against us in the League Cup.

We lost 2 - 0.

3 future Swans were in the Liverpool team that night ... Ian Callaghan, Tommy Smith and Emlyn Hughes.

RIP

I was on the bus that had an engine fire just outside of Brecon, only got in the ground as they came out for the KO

Sat by him at Northampton in the AutoWindscreens game years ago and chatted to him about what he was doing there. Was scouting for Barnet and remember thinking then, really, Barnet, why not England or someone higher. Anyway nice chap that night and a great keeper back in the day. RIP

Tosh tells the story how he went to Liverpool in 1981 and enquired about signing Ray Clemence. Liverpool said he was available, so Tosh asked Ray if he was interested in signing for us.

Tosh said that Clemence just laughed. The rest is history ...

Ray Clemence signed for Spurs and we signed Dai Davies. 😇
