• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

RIP to an absolute Eastside Legend

As a teenager I was in college with Geoff.

AKA "Gaffa" - AKA "The Ripper."

When we were in college, he was also on the books down the Vetch. Rugby's gain, was football's loss.

With Wales - Geoff won three Six Nations titles, including two Grand Slams, a hat-trick of Triple Crowns, and the record of 15 games unbeaten in a Welsh jersey.

RIP Geoff - one of life's gents. - A monster on the pitch - A Gentle Giant off it!! 😥

People who I know and sadly knew [passed] have never said a bad word about him, I never met him myself but he was lovely man by the views expressed by those I knew who did.

He played for Port Tennant Colts in the team a year ahead of me. He was a great centre half, could probably have made it professionally. I knew him from the Eastside and also from his job with Welsh Brewers. A lot has been written about him and he really was a genuinely lovely guy.

RIP Geoff.

Weird statistical spike for MND among sportsmen who played on grass and farmers.
