The thing I can’t get around, this guy was a defender, yet none of the sides he’s managed could defend for toffee.

I was a fan of his when he was here but even I would admit, the point you make is unarguable. For all the good stuff he did here, he never got on top of the bad defending and the constant mistakes. And it looks like the same is happening at Saints. It's just a plain weird blindspot, for a defender by trade.

They've had enough of the fraud already

They are saying everything we were saying over the last two years, think it proves that our form over those last 10 games or so were nothing to do with him, it couldn't have been because he would surely have learnt from that, either that or he thinks he has enough quality in that Saints squad to play the way he dreams of playing, like someone said he's delusional.

I must have said it a dozen times, that he wants his teams to play like Pep's teams, but the daft twat fails to realise that he hasn't got the quality in the squad to do so and he certainly never had the squad here to do so either.

He'd be better off writing up Vegan menu's for his restaurant and playing manager on that game Football manager.

I miss the Monmouth’s posts on here re his post match interview word bingo on what he would say after a loss like that

Ironic that they were whumped by a team managed by Peps assistant.

Blimey, those goals! Ever so reminiscent of our pattern under Russ; defenders not even on camera as the ball hits the back of the net, or when they are on camera they have been sat down on their backsides by the opposition attackers.

Sixteen goals conceded in six league games tells a story.

Russell Martin post match comments ...

*Everyones responsibility tonight
*we made it difficult, 3rd goal was the killer
*we were on top in the 2nd half, they were clinical, we were not
*people will talk about the score, but if we were more clinical, it would be different
*we cannot concede 2 early goals
*we went toe to toe, and you have to accept they will get through us at times
*I am proud of the players, as this is different to Sunderland, they did what we asked them
*Leicester lost the ball more than we did, but no one will criticise their manager
*we will continue to work on what we do
*if anyone expects to not experience pain now, they are naive
*This was much better than sunderland, and not a huge amount in it tonight
*the first goal was ridiculous, 2nd goal we know why as players were out of position, 3rd *goal was about poor transition
*we will make more mistakes and we will see more bumps in the road
*how people react is up to them
*If we play like we did tonight, move the ball like that, we will be more than OK
*All will want a reaction on Tuesday. If we play like we did tonight, sure it will come

Plus in an interview he said ...

"You don’t need a plan B when plan A is the right thing to do’, and ‘If it doesn’t work and I get sacked, at least I get sacked doing something I believe in. I don’t get sacked regretting that I have bowed on my principles."

As I said many times while he was with us, his management is nothing (or very little) to do with results and everything to do with a big club noticing the style of play he uses. He’s so rigid in his ways that he doesn’t care if he hasn’t got the players good enough to play a Man City style and level of football…it’s all about big clubs noticing the possession stats and taking a punt on him (which has worked so far to some extent, with him moving from MK to us and from us to a relegated, rich, PL Southampton…with very little in terms of success on the pitch).

I dislike using the label ‘charlatan’ but he’s certainly worthy of it. Thank god we don’t have to put up with it any longer, whatever our struggles are at the moment.

It should have been 6 or 7 goals last night for Leicester, and did you see their 4th goal? The Leicester player knocked it past a Southampton player 65 yards from goal and there was only the goalkeeper left to stop him scoring :D :D. It's brilliant watching it as long as its not your team that's trying to implement his stupid pipedream. There is only 2 or 3 teams in the country that have the players capable of playing Wussball, and unfortunately for him he's not managing any of them.

Ah, the Fulham (1-3 and 1-5) and the Forest (1-4 and 1-5) gambits combined. He’s nothing if not repetitive. Carlos says, get that meat on the barbecue Russ.
