Grinding out a win in a game like that makes me optimistic but I really think we need to get a striker in January - we're missing too many chances.
Also what the hell's going on with our pitch, it's awful?

It's definitely not in the condition that we have grown to expect

Someone said (either on here or twitter) we have sold the light/heat machine that was always on it. No idea if its true

Nah that's still there and is on most nights. More likely is that given the short break between last season and this, no serious renovation work was able to be done to the pitch and it's paying the price for it. Probably along with some groundstaff cutbacks meaning less tlc.

Did anyone notice after the Stoke game Cooper's interview pitch side on Sky...

A bloody big John Deer tractor going up and down the pitch instead of two or three lads pushing petrol mowers 👀😮

Nice to see Lowe taking the time during the international break to improve his shooting ability.

When I was playing in my teens, the coach used to put a bottle or something about foot inside each post and we'd spend a lot of time running onto balls and trying to hit them first time and it really paid off because the keeper has a long way to get down and across at the same time. The other thing we were told was if the keeper was coming out at you, poke the ball along the ground or through his legs. It's what strikers do. If Lowe had spent time learning and perfecting both of those things, Krul would have been helpless with both of his 2 big chances against Norwich but both his shots were about 4 feet off the ground which is easiest height for a keeper to save because it's where your arms are and sometimes you just have to stick an arm out.

You had a good coach.

I did indeed. He was a teacher at my senior school but he played for a local side called Borough United who won the Welsh Cup in 1963 and represented Wales in the European Cup Winners Cup the following season. He coached the U16 team I played for and we won our local league in 1969 with a team that included Joey JONES. We also played against a team that featured Mickey Thomas. When most of us were too old for the following season we moved up to the newly formed Llandudno Swifts which produced Neville Southall and Gareth Davies who went on to captain Wrexham and won 4 Welsh caps. A golden era in our backwater!
