Historically we're definitely their biggest rivals but maybe they have a similar level of rivalry with Bristol City now?

Distance-wise, there's only 2 miles in it for them (45 miles from Bristol and 43 miles from us). If we had another club a similar distance to the west, say if Carmarthen were in the same division as us, I'm sure we'd develop a decent rivalry with them as well.

Look at rivalries in the midlands (Villa, Birmingham, Wolves and West Brom), London (Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, Fulham) or the North West (United, City, Liverpool, Everton) etc, where there are a number of clubs within close proximity of each other. The difference is we're very isolated from all the other EFL clubs geographically so we only have a genuine rivalry with one club

There us absolutely nothing that backs up the notion that their rivalry with us is lesser or on a par with Bristol C besides some other their fans claiming it is (again the coping mechanism because we've been so dominant over them this generation).

Their attendances v Bristol C and us at legoland going back in time starting with last season (in seasons when the 3 of us have been in the same division and not covid years):

Just looking back at our premier league years they had v Bristol C:

Plus of course, Bristol C v the scum still is not and hasn't been for years (if ever) a bubble trip.

If our CBs not in contention, I'd rather them know now..it'll get em in a frenzy that they'll just have to turn up to win. More chances of em fckn it up rather than give em a massive boost on the day. They'll be wound up enough without that.

Fair enough, I hadn't given it that much thought to be honest! As you say, it could well be because we've mostly had the upper hand on them for the last few years (no idea what their results against Bristol City have been in that time)
