• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

That goal by Dembele highlighted the one thing we no longer have, a winger who runs directly at goal and shoots.

For years we have had wingers who were just quick and go for the shot, we are desperate for someone to fill that gap in the squad.

Great game today. Enjoyed it. And always lovely to have a sea of QPR shirts in the local supermarket when we’ve just beaten them.

Weirdly, I’m not sure whether today makes more or less of a case for Sheehan. It’s great to win but there’s no getting away from the point that someone (maybe Monnie?) made earlier in the week that we don’t really have a defined style at the moment. So it will be hard to progress on. That may be just due to players, it may be Sheehan.
Not sure today helps the owners make a decision.

I do like the high press though. Eom is fantastic at it. The weaker link is Vipotnik as he doesn’t have the pace for it.

Anyway - glad it’s not my decision. Whatever happens it will be understandable.

We do have a lot of gaps in the squad and we have to applaud Sheehan for transforming the results and individual form of the players.

We have no striker who can high press and be a regular goal scorer. We have no midfield that would resemble next season with all but Franco being here and fit enough for another campaign.

Fair amount of deadwood to move on and replacing Darling if he leaves

So whoever is in charge will have a decent amount of rebuilding to do so does this favour the swede?

I would argue that until very recently we haven't had a defined style since Cooper was here.

Unless of course anyone counts having 70% of the ball yet conceding loads of goals and losing loads of matches as a "defined style".

I think we have to consider that as a defined style and the primary reason that we've been so horrible to watch since 2021.

I think the best piece of business for a few seasons was selling Grimes to Coventry; the transformation in our fortunes since has been quite staggering. 1-2 today.
The "Other side of the game" showed its value when QPR could not get out of their half in the first half hour as they were not allowed space. Fulton equates to Swansea's fowler!

Ideally a striker should have at least a few of the attributes to succeed regardless of the manager.. bit of a poachers instinct, bit of pace, can hold the ball up, decent in the air, timing his runs and a desire to actually score. Vip and Cullen although could be poachers lack a lot in other areas.

Cullen is a second striker, a hybrid, a throwback. He gets through a load of work and has scored half as many goals again as Vip: 11 to 7; in very similar number of games. There have been dozens of striker smaller and slower, and Culls has the allround game you need these days. His best years are ahead but we dont have a better goalscorer unfortunately/
