Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Southampton 3 v Swansea City 0 | The Emirates FA Cup Third Round

I would play a full strength team...we have a 7 day break then a further break to the Cardiff game. A chance to turn Southampton over and get a lucrative tie.

Playing a fringe team means a 2 weak break for the core of the team...no for me thank you.

I guess you could factor in injuries or suspension but we don't tackle so no issues.
Cardiff play Watford on the Tuesday before the derby we have 2 games in 14 days they have 3.
Southampton needs to be a mix of players whilst some like Cullen need a rest.

That's a shame. It will mean Robinson is back for our game. He is by some distance their most dangerous player.

Yes when I heard the news of his red card New Years Day it was the brightest moment of a dark afternoon until I realised they had 3 games before they played us .

Could we play:

Mclaughlin

Tjoe
Pedersen
Christie
Naughton

Govea/Nzingo
Fulton
Bianchini
Allen
MPH

Vipotnik

I'd certainly look to be including some of the u23's, at least from the bench if they're fit.

I half think we should look for a cup run as I believe we have nothing to play for in the league. We ain't going up. We ain't going down. Playing youth also option. My issue with Lukey is he has no idea where to play his starting line up. Wtf will he do with the unknowns ? Hey, here's an idea. Play Abdullai in his favoured position for once. Try Grimes somewhere near midfield. Get Key and Tymon to play FB as opposed to inverted wing cum midfield cum lost somewhere. Or am I asking too much ?

Anything other than an exeprienced full strength line up will get beat. May as well try and win the game and give our best players the opportunity to raise their game especially Darling.

Big test for Williams.

We need to rest Matty, he’s been carrying the hefty weight of expectation of our new owners for far too long now.

Williams has been all at sea, it’s sink or swim time.

I'm thinking of going to see my local team Pego FC play on Sunday afternoon. I can't stand watching a carbon copy of last year's humiliation against Bournemouth, where we field a team of stiffs away against a Premiership club, and look like a bunch of rabbits in the headlights as we get our arse handed to us on a plate.

They’ll almost certainly beat us easily anyway. The two best line ups would be pretty much echo last season’s gulf in class (5-0; 3-1 could have been 8-1) and our reserves are significantly worse than their reserves.

Anything can happen I suppose, but I’m expecting a difficult watch. Is Pego FC being streamed? 😆

It will be a difficult game if we approach it with the same apathy as we did the Portsmouth & Hull games.
If we're up for it (as we should be every game) then it should be a good game.
How we prepare is down to Williams. How we compete in the game is down to the players.

Massive week for Luke. Keep saying that if he rests players for the derby, then you best win it pal.
