Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City 2 Sunderland 3 | The EFL Championship

Eteb told me that we play the best footy in Europe. How come we keep getting beat then?

We’re dog turd, clueless and rudderless. This club is sleep walking into League 1, give it a year or two.
Better than you blooooobirds you little rem

I thought Sunderland were superb in the 2nd half, just as good as Leeds when they visited.

Our capitulation was pathetic. Sunderland clearly changed tactics 2nd half and we didn't. Poor leadership on and off the pitch. However, the better team won and showed their grit.
It's funny because Sunderland and Leeds have enjoyed their best halves of football against us at our place this season.

We allow it. As you say we don't respond and the capitulation was an embarrassment

I can't see how you can say that though - have you seen every game Leeds and Sunderland have played then?

And why is everything a capitulation etc - why can't we just accept that some teams are better than we are? A top 12 finish this year will be fine to give us a go at top 6 next year

No but if they both play like that every game then they'd be on over 100 PTS each surely?

I've seen Leeds in a few away games on TV for example and funnily enough Preston coped far better with them today than we did.

Because it's simple facts that losing a 2 goal lead at home to a team five places above you doesn't happen unless you're down to ten men or you bottle it.

That's why probably 2% of 2-0 leads probably end in a win for the other team

There's no way we should have lost that today with the start we had, but we failed to do anything positive for the last 70 minutes of the game.

I didn't watch it in fairness but agreed we
Shouldn't be losing after a 2/0 lead. We are scoring for fun now but conceding lots

Posters have said this in 2021.. finish midtable and have a crack at it next year.. it'll be the same next season.. our back four are not good enough, our midfield, our wingers, our forwards.. Sunderland have improved, we haven't.. we're ordinary and need a clear out.. no manager is going to get us in the top 6 with current personnel.. we might even get worse if we do clear out players.. but that's football.. we'll probably beat Hull, QPR and Portsmouth.. but the top 6 in the division have got our number

A top 12 might be on. There’s no way we’re challenging for top 6 with this forward lineup though. We could carry one or two of them and they’d add a bit from the bench. But new striker, winger and number 10 needed as a minimum for top 6. A bit more quality in the fullbacks wouldn’t hurt as well. And a natural leader at the back. Oh, and more quality options in the middle.

Apart from that, we’re all set (y);)

That 2nd half was as bad as it's been under Williams, against a side that had won 1 in 8, could could easily have shipped five or six goals. We had absolutely no threat whatsoever, as soon as Sunderland equalised the writing was on the wall...

Great result for us today !
Only because our “New” investors were there to see 70 minutes of what our squad, manager, and staff have to offer on a football pitch, against a good championship side, who by all accounts have several first team players out.
That level of squad, we can only dream of.
The more I watch a Williams team, the more I see and hear the chief bull$hitter, and secondhand car salesman, Russell Plan A Martin.
Give me strength!
What did he say after today’s debacle….
““It’s a wake up call, without a doubt.”
I think he needs a new bigger alarm clock if you ask me
The only difference between RM and LW is now Vigouroux lumps the ball down the park to give us Plan B
That 2nd half was pathetic. Their manager changed their tactics, our manager is oblivious yet again, and we’re overrun in midfield, with 2 of their wingers given the freedom of Swansea, with acres of green grass to run unchallenged into.
I can’t remember 2 more inadequate fullbacks, that were so cr@p at defending as these 2.
I used to think Bidwell was a journeyman fullback, compared to Tymon he was a colossus!
WTF is the Cabango, Darling and Grimes playing centre back all about??
Today we had what looked at times like a one man midfield of Franco, who must be wondering what he’s left himself in for.
He was superb by the way, doing the work of 2 men because of the absentee midfielder Grimes.
When you look through our squad it’s paper thin with quality, and that for me is Williams only get out of jail free card.
Our only hope is the new investors looked at that game and heeded his post match words
“It’s a wake up call, without a doubt.”

After going two nil up, I'd have been quite happy if we'd parked the bus. That's what Preston did against Leeds yesterday after taking a surprise first half lead. They hardly got out of their half after that. They were a minute away from taking all three points too.

I suppose it's not in our DNA and not how Williams wants to play. But I think it's horses for courses. There's more than one way to win a football match

I think Williams and the team are confused what to do when leading home. They don't seem to want to counter when the opposition attack and they don't seem able to park the bus
.
It's a bizarre scenario. When you're 2-0 up the game opens up. It just makes us fragile and allows the opposition in
