Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City 3 Leeds United 4 | The EFL Championship

Fvcking gutted, but a helluva game. The Championship is so much better a watch than the PL.
Are you serious? Have you forgotten all the major scalps we took over the years in the Premier league. They were amazing times, beating Arsenal, Liverpool, Man utd, Man City, Chelsea and winning a major trophy to top it all off. We may have seen an exciting game today , but a lot of the championship games are low on quality and utter dross. Give me our time in the Premier league over anything I've seen in the championship since relegation.

We could have been defensively savvy instead of naive.

And that’s the point.

I imagine our new owners will be expecting better, given their level of active investment (in stark contrast to the passive disinterest of the previous maj owners)

‘We need a better manager’ is most likely the convos at the top table, I’d wager.
At the end of the day, if Darling doesn’t inexplicably stand there marking no-one, playing Gnonto onside we probably still come away with a point, which I for one would have been happy with pre-kick off.

Coleman appointed Williams didn’t he, and he’s still a majority shareholder? And level of investment comparative with most other clubs in the division?

"ooh didn't we do well against the big boys"

The same Leeds that have won only twice from eight away games previous. But yet again we've conceded four to them only this time we've been a bit better going forward.

Ultimately going toe-to-toe with these teams is great, if you're getting results. But from our ventures against Burnley, Sheffield United and Leeds we have zero points. To follow on from zero points against the three promoted last year.

I don't know how these three don't go up with 120 odd points as they must win every game because we're all so happy that we got them close.

Leeds played 4 forward players man for man and stretched our back four, it created gaps for 3 of their goals.. MPH didn't help himself out there, but like Abdulai isn't a winger.. Williams also brought Fulton on to press their back four, and he did for about 10 minutes and him and MPH just jogged in circles for the remainder of the game

For the 3rd and 4th Leeds goals , Fulton could have help prevent both. The 3rd he made no effort to track or tackle the midfielder leaving Ronald to pick up 2 players which caught him in no man's land. The 4th he didn't track Gnotos run a faced up to James when Grimes was doing that leaving Gnoto a free run in but could argued Darling playing onside didn't help either..

Sick to fckn death of dropping points post 90mins. How many we've dropped all told in last few years is frightening. To much to digest from today, but why the fck can't we grow a pair ? Get to 3-3, just kick them and the ball into row z ffs.

My view.

Yes I am dissapointed we lost.
We went toe to toe with an absolutely fantastic attacking team at this level plus a team who doesn't concede much.
We clearly need attacking options but I was fully encouraged with the fight in the team plus we scored 3 goals, so this highlights that we are capable.

We won't set the league a light but we have a capable bunch here.

We gave them a game for once. Our own worst enemies sometimes though. Stevie Wonder could have spotted the problems on the flanks. “We need to” get some points in the bag now those two games are out the way. There are still positive signs and worrying signs from our manager. We’ll just have to see. As Clasie says, at least it’s worth watching now.

It’s because we have folded so often and failed to even offer any resistance, so a close game is a nice change. The real criminal act is not getting a 3-3.

I expected nothing from Burnley and Leeds so I'm not surprised. Hard way to lose both but, today, our shocking defending and set up deserved nothing more.

Jogged in circles. Brilliant. 🤣🤣🤣

I'm with Evanski. Premier League was great and so was the Cup and Europe. But the last 3 years weren't so good. And I think he means (apologies if incorrect) that, in general, Championship games are better to watch than PL games. Which I agree with but I enjoyed seasons 78/79, 85/87, 87/88, 04/05 (as some examples) far more than any of our seasons in the PL. The 2 seasons 81-83 were better because it was a more open field. Money talks now and with the obvious exception of Leicester it's practically the same shit every year. Every team bar six going for the bottom 14 places.
