Smurph raised it in the match day thread, and I agree, for me, one of his biggest mistakes has been his coaching recruitment.

During last seasons run in and the summer Sheehan pushed for and was given his choice of backroom staff - he went for exclusively ex-pro defenders.

Correct me if I’m wrong but there is nobody on the staff that has any attacking instincts?

He has surrounded himself with competent, solid pros but there doesn’t seem to be any flair or creative thinking there.

I feel this has filtered down into the playing style and unless we bring in an attacking coach asap I can’t see Sheehan being able to break out of this malaise.

Exactly what I'm worried about last 2 times we we're looking for a manager it took us literally months.

Remember we are only in this mess because they had no backup plan and couldn't find a manager quick enough.
And don't forget, we don't have a DOF and everyone else who is behind the scenes seems to be quite young and no one with much football experience.
The owners have put a lot of their money in and I think the reality will hit them later than it should.

O'Dea certainly has the gaeliic football work attitude of sheer determination and fitness will win the day.
It's a concern that intent, flair and creation going forward seems to be filtering away with this group of players.....it seems to change when we are losing games and chasing it but it always kicks in too late.

Sheehan got the job correctly but it seems he done it under false pretentious and is now reverting to how he would rather play.
Its worse football than it was under Williams this time last year.

Even Leicester and Southampton are easier to play against this season as other sides have proven, but we made them look like world beaters.
Leicester currently have 1 win in 7, wonder against who, that's how good they are, Southampton are not much better.

How ruthless is this new ownership? Will they pull the plug on Sheehan if it gets worse?

This is not Sheehan Out Post. This is - will he get the time that Williams and Martins did? And at what cost?
So yours isn't a 'Sheehan Out Post' but you think that keeping him will cost us. Equally, this isn't a 'Sheehan In Post' but I'd give him until the end of December unless things get really catastrophic. For what it's worth, Norwich fans are suicidal at the moment, so cheer yourselves up by looking through their forum.

Sheehan got the job on merit. Regardless of what you think about his career history and previous jobs, his points per game stats for us did not lie.

But, and it’s a big but, he’s now burning credit at a rate of knots. We won’t sack him now, but if things are no better by the turn of the year then the guillotine will be raised.

You can be sure than the leadership group will have asked the recruitment team if they have signed a bag of spanners over the summer.

We're 5 points outside the relegation zone and 5 points outside the play-offs which makes us the definition of a mid-table team. We know that the squad is performing below its abilities, and so is the manager, but there's time to turn both around.

A couple of great points made on this thread,….we don’t look like a proper football team is bang on the money and the comparison with Boro is spot on.

I really don’t get this wait and see approach that some people have, any other manager would have been thrown to the Lions it feels like some are confusing a lovely bloke with being a good manager…it ain’t working lads.

All we see is a rotation of players with no change in tactics or style, we have far better players than our performances are showing, the big worry is that some of our shining lights at the start of the season are starting to go backwards and that can only be down to one thing.

There’s also the possibility that our state of the art, best in class recruitment and data apparatus isn’t actually much cop after all and that we’ve bought some duffers.
I've been thinking much that way when emphasis seems to have been more towards potential than experience

Yep.

I would argue only Burgess has been a success so far. Possibly Galbraith as well, although his more recent performances have not been as good as his early ones.

The rest can all be filed under "jury's still out".

Surprisingly, we've actually scored more and conceded more than we had under Williams after 11 games last season. Identical records of 3 wins, 4 draws, 4 defeats though.
