I have to say that my early impression is that the new midfield is a definite upgrade on previous seasons.At last players who can turn with the ball and go forward ,not to mention picking a pass through the opponents and Stamanic has the presence and positional sense needed behind the more attacking midfielders.
Around the edges of that Inoussa shows trickery and a turn of speed which we lacked,Burgess is a great defensive asset ,with no mention yet of Idah,Mason and Widdell and what they will offer.

When you add this to our existing stalwarts and with Vipotnik finding his feet at last surely we can get a winning combination out of this group.
Good luck to them all in getting there.

If you take a look at the championship table - we are firmly top half based on goals conceded - but firmly bottom half on goals scored. No genius required to figure out the problem. However, the solution may not be quite as obvious. Here are a number of things I think can turn us into a top half team. Inevitably all these things overlap and link together.
1. Vary the point of attack - we are too predictable with our approach. As well as width and crossing, we need short passes into the area from central areas.
2. We have huge gaps between our striker and our midfield. I believe we are literally desperate for someone to taker the game by the scruff in that second striker/attacking midfield are between the opposition back 4 and their midfield.
3. When we get the chance to attack at pace - we often choose to slow down or check backwards. Whether this is tactical or a personnel issue - we have to be more intense in the attacking third and take more chances
4. I am a fan of wing play - but we need more involvement from our wide men - they need to come looking for the ball to feet AND spinning in behind. We cannot stand and wait for the same pass all game long. When the ball is on the opposite wing, we have to arttack the area as if we mean business and want to score goals.
5. Our high press need to win the ball back in dangerous areas. Somebody needs to call the press - and then we press as an attacking unit. Look at the different energy Widel brought in his cameo v QPR.
Again - not everything is broken here - BUT we must be more creative, adventurous pacey and clinical in the final third. Most championship games are won on fine margins, and we need to be on the right side of these close scoreline more often than not.
Somebody mentioned an attacking coach - and I would not be averse to bringing in some specialist help in this area - as we need to improve and improve quickly.
