Burnham is very popular in Manchester. I don't think he would have too much trouble winning against some Reform knuckle dragger.

Would that by-election be in Manchester? He may be a popular in Manchester (I do like some of the things that he has said) but he would also be representing the labour party. Would you class all reform supporters as "knuckle draggers"? Or just their candidates?

That's comical.

The whole reason they're "bumping their gums off" as you put it, is because they can see from the polls what's coming in 2029 if Starmer and his cronies remain in situ.

The bloke doesn't listen to his backbenchers. He talks to them hardly at all. The only people he bothers with are the people in his inner circle.

How can MPs change anything, how can they address problems, when they're not even allowed a voice within their own party?

They need to keep indoors and not spout off to the media. They are doing the oppositions job for them and adding to the room and gloom.
Starmer has made mistakes, but he’s not at fault for Rayners tax affairs and some of the other faux pas by his MP’s.

They’ve got 4 years to the next GE.

You didn’t ask me, but yeah they’re all knuckle draggers in my opinion. They can’t pick and choose which bits they agree with, they’re either Reform voters or they ain’t.

1. You're a racist, and all the stuff they spout about immigration gets you hard
2. You're obscenely rich, and you like the fact that their policies will allow you to hoard more of your wealth and give you more opportunities to add to it

The labour party can put whoever they want on a paper for a by-election. Without convincing the voters to vote for that person then they would just loose the seat. Do you honestly see ANY Labour candidate winning, with Labour in it's current state?

You're responding to a post suggesting they're looking at a Manchester seat for him. He won his Manchester mayoral election last year with 63.4% of the vote. He received 420k votes, while the Tory in 2nd place got 69k votes and the Reform candidate got less than 50k. No matter what is happening in by-elections elsewhere and the current narrative around the Labour party, Burnham would be an almost certain winner in an election in Manchester.

Your last sentence, if you're asking if any Labour leader would win an election if called right now, you're probably right that no-one could. But it's a long time before the next general election and plenty of time for things to change. The way Reform are performing in those councils that people have been dull enough to vote them into may well show voters how unfit they are to run things.

Sadly our own elections may be too soon for people to catch on to how useless they are, but seeing as all the other parties have agreed not to go into a coalition with Reform, they have very little chance of running the Senedd.

The reason I originally posted on here was give my view on people's use of language when they don't agree with someone else's views. I find being called a knuckle dragger a little offensive, but I'm old enough to understand your point. The youth of today (who are far more access to social media) on right/left might not be as understanding and then this is when things escalate.

I do agree with you and Rockin about trying to discuss these things calmly with people. Trying to point out to people who are angry about their situations that voting for Reform is like turkeys voting for Christmas, but it's just so frustrating at times (I'm not saying this is why everyone chooses to vote Reform of course, but clearly they are benefitting from people's frustration with the traditional parties).

It's like watching millions of people telling us how they're sending money to that nice Nigerian prince who emailed them...

Agreed. I wouldn't trust the Tories to keep their word on joining Reform but, because of PR it's far more likely to be Plaid and Labour.
It's not easy to get an overall majority in Cardiff Bay. Labour has never managed it but I'd like to see Plaid do it next year, unlikely though it is.

Thank for your reply Jack. I personally would vote for reform at this moment time (might change in 4 years) as I agree with "alot" of what they say and am fed up of the other parties promising to do things and then not doing them. If reform get in and fail then I believe it would have been worth a try of something different.

Agreed. I wouldn't trust the Tories to keep their word on joining Reform but, because of PR it's far more likely to be Plaid and Labour.

I agree on being doubtful about the Tories, but the moment they become a junior party to Reform in anything, that's basically the end of the Conservative party.

I'd challenge you to spend some time listening to the likes of Farage, Tice, Anderson, and Widdecombe talk about Reform's plans and still type that while honestly believing it.

The current lot may not be great, but listening to the bunch listed above for any length of time makes the 'current imbeciles' all sound inspiring!
