Had an easy start, took things for granted but has (for me) learned much over the time between March and now. He has never managed or coached before at any level other than kids, and has been able to identify a style which could work next season. Albeit with some players who most certainly won't be here in September when it all starts again.
Its been the most frustrating season ever, but that's because we all knew what could be achieved, shamefully Cooper saw it too late. But I do question Marsh who surely saw it too.
Its all about development and learning and being able to communicate that to young and in a lot of cases entitled players whose education has been far more physical than mental.
For me, he is fully deserving of another season, he might be an ugly cnt, but he is rarely caught out in interviews and is intelligent. I also believe there will be other clubs with an eye on him and really don't see what better is out there for our club.
Cooper in for me, he has earned it.

I suspect we won't have many options anyway, given the ongoing financial situation. I would also give Cooper a go next season given how we have seemingly found a style that suits our players and played quite well since post lockdown. I also hear that the likes of Brewster and / or other Liverpool youngsters could be loaned out to us again next season (Klopp seems to be a fan of the Swansea way ;) ).

With extension to contracts for a few old heads (Naughton, VDH) and maybe a decent signing (CM ?), then we should be in a better place than this time last season with a system that suits us and a manager now with a year's experience of the Championship.

Hopefully we'll win the final game using the same style and ensure that we finish 7th at the very least :D

The idea that Cooper has learned anything is farcical.
His 'system' change, three central defenders and wing backs, has been forced because his only quality fullback was red carded; he had to give a floundering but recently very improved) Guerhi game time and the same for MVdH to put him in the shop window; Gallagher has added little to the midfield that allows any serious defensive protection (Fulton is improving in that role but also switches off). It is very defensive and very, very slow.
We have very good and fast wide players who he has failed to utilise.
I see him as another Monk, the mantra appears to be, 'don't lose; one goal up is good enough; don't lose by too many; bore he opposition into a false sense of superiority then try to score; don't play to the touch line in case you fall over the edge'.
His game management has been appalling all season.
We had a chance to make a serious impact on the division and he has failed; he has failed tactically, managerially and inspirationally.
The squad we attracted the season with should have been vying for a top 4 spot.
Get rid now to save a mid season change.

It’s an option, but I can’t see it. 😉

The system change came before naughton got sent off.

He’s crap, but he’s our crap.

That’s the best endorsement I can manage.

Win 5-0 on Wednesday to give us two shots at the lottery and I’ll change my mind.

We can't blame Cooper for being given his first senior management role; he had to start somewhere. I'm sure that the learning curve has been steep and painful but there's still a long way to go; this is clearly evident from his lack of Plan B, his poor game management, etc.

On the balance of things I also fall down on the side of him having another go next season.

We were playing with wingbacks before Naughts got his red card, so it wasn’t forced.

He is a super conservative manager though who doesn’t like too much change or risk, even when things aren’t going well. No argument there.

He's done well enough to be given a 2nd attempt, is far more experienced now and if we do well against Hull he deserves another go. There may be other teams come in for him I think because for his first season he's done OK.

Read somewhere that we've lost 25 points from conceding goals in the last ten minutes of games. Not sure if it's true but it sounds like it could be.

The generally tedious nature of the football he's chosen to employ for the majority of the season aside, his game management is perhaps the biggest single issue most people have with him. And I'm not talking about the complicated tactical shifts that you might not expect your average supporter to understand compared to a qualified and experienced football coach, I'm talking about the kind of basic, players dead on their feet, make some subs for f*ck's sake simplicity that anyone should be able to handle, and he still can't do it. Twelve months into his full managerial career, a number of years into the period where he's been responsible for team management at any level, and that remains beyond him.

It doesn't make much difference whether anyone endorses him for next season or not as the likelihood remains that he will be in charge anyway, but he needs to improve. Successful managers have to be bold and proactive as much as possible. He's about as far from that as it's possible to get at the moment.

I thought when balanced with the goals we scored late, we were down to about -10 overall.

Lots of talk about games we have wasted, and which ones stick in the memory. For me it's the Hull game away, by far the worst team I have seen at this level, in complete disarray after the sale of Bowen and Grosicki, we scored three goals away from home and made three howlers to gift them a point and lose us 2, now it's them we are relying on to beat Cardiff. Not going to happen unfortunately.

The four home game run against Reading, Forest, Brentford and Stoke comes immediately to my mind. We got one point out of twelve available. Conceding late winning goals in two out of the four, and a late equaliser in a third.

Brentford kicked our arses so no complaints there.

Cooper in for me 5 more points than Potter with a weaker squad. 35 points away from home with only 4 defeats is quite remarkable. Far better at defending corners and free kicks.

One worry is out home form with 8 defeats. That is one area we must improve on next season.
