Watching the Italy v Spain game tonight and again I see subs being sent on but before they take to the pitch someone on the coaching team is leafing through a set of flipcharts. I've seen this often of course and many's the time the player isn't taking a blind bit of notice.

What tactical information is contained in these charts that hasn't been covered in training? What's the point of them?

The coaching staff do it to make the bloke who’s footing the bill think he’s getting value for money. It’s usually one of their kids knock them out on their puter.
