Summer Transfer Window

Promising so far though!
I’d sum it up by saying that we have signed a very good centre half, a good back up at centre half, and some promising young players who should deliver good return on investment and may all be fantastic, or may not as they've been signed with potential in mind rather than being proven entities at this level. Nothing wrong with that. It makes absolute sense.

We have a few significant gaps to fill and players to move on. Hopefully that will come.

Whatever the end result, let's all agree that the club has actually been active early, brought in potential and things seem to be going in the right direction.

Known of us actually know if and how quickly players will adapt, but let's be happy that we are at least trying to progress.

Right onto transfers again, do we think we will bring any one else in soon?

Parking Burgess and Santos for a moment (they were expedient signings in positions where experience is critical)..
There has been a sea change to signing players who have shown potential - and are at an age where their next contract will become due in their mid twenties and should be highly desirable assets.
Not all of them will progress as we hope - BUT we have Vigoroux Ronald Franco and Eom that (to a greater or lesser degree) have been solid investments and made us better. Vipotnik and Bianchini are also not totally lost causes.
There is a good chance that Inoussa, Widell, Galbraith and Wales have the same trajectory, and we will start to have a rolling production line of talent that can command the sort of fees required to "feed the machine'.
Now if we could somehow unearth some gems from our academy we will be in a great position.

That’s going to be a tough position to fill for us, markets pretty sparse. You could gamble on someone like Brandon Williams, or a more experienced player like Joel Ward, Aaron Creswell and Ashley Young

Ideally we only need someone to act as back up to Tymon, if that's a youngster who can progress or just an experienced head. Couple of decent free agent options

Ryo Hatsuse. Japanese international who had a few games for Sheffield Wed last season.

Daouds Guindo. Malian international who has been on the the books of RB Salzburg

Lennart Cyzborra. Ex German under 21 int with experience in Eredivisie,Bundesliga and Serie A.

I would like to see what the youth/u23s have to offer for a position where our first choice missed only a handful of games last season and was also our joint highest creative outlet for assists. There are far worse players out there to be an understudy to than Tymon

Who are we thinking about from the youth to cover LB(Tymon)?
I have no idea how good he is but Parker seems to get mentioned a lot.

Jigsaw puzzle pieces comes to mind for me. I am no fan of 2 good players for every position. For me thats for the big money clubs in the Premiere.

Us, we get an injury then move the puzzle pieces around for 2,3 5 or 6 games

Key gets injured. Parker or Galbraith takes over.
Tymon gets injured. Key takes over.

Key played LB his 1st 5 games for us.
Galbraith spent almost the entire 2nd half of last season at RB.

So from a budget point of view I am OK with what we have. Would I like to see another utility defender come in. Sure. But for me it comes down to....Do we want to hand out another contract at 1/2m per year or can that money be better spent elsewhere in the squad and give an opportunity to our academy players to step up
